An hour before the start of the celebration, parishioners the neighborhood of La Vina Lorca began to arrive at the new parish church of Christ the King to take place and, thus, be present at the celebration, after which the parish church would open its doors after five years.

At 18:00 hours began the celebration of consecration of the temple and the altar, presided over by the Bishop of Cartagena, accompanied by Archbishop Emeritus of Burgos, the pastor of Christ the King, the vicar general and in the area of ​​Lorca and ten priests.

The pastor of Christ the King, Juan Jose Sanchez Andreo, recalled that it was the Diocese, at the request of the Bishop, who has taken charge of the construction costs of the new church and parish complex, valued at more than one million three hundred thousand euros .

"It's been five years of waiting, but it was worth it," said the pastor of the neighborhood of La Viña.

At the beginning of the celebration, the pastor gave keys and the plans of the temple to the Bishop of Cartagena, who then blessed the water and with it sprinkled the altar, the temple walls and the faithful present.

During the homily, Msgr. Lorca said that the whole diocese is very proud of this work.

He talked about the reconstruction of Lorca after the earthquakes and how Lorca lived with hope five years.

He invited the parish of Christ the King to have open the doors of the temple and out to bring the rest of the neighborhood of La Viña and citywide charity, solidarity, experience of faith and "conversion of heart" because "it is no spectator, we are all witnesses" he said.

He illustrated to those present about pictured in the window of the presbytery that serves as the main altarpiece.

He spoke of the Pantocrator and the Evangelists, of Creation represented with images of earth, sea and sky;

and he stressed that the People of God is manifested in the image of the castle of Lorca and Lorca.

Then, seminarians placed on the altar a brazier on which Mons. Lorca poured incense and incensed the altar and the deacon the rest of the church.

Six parishioners of the parish dressed and ornamented the altar, the paschal candle was lit and it took light to light the candles on the altar and around the temple.

Once consecrated the altar and the temple, continued the celebration of the Eucharist.

After the celebration, the Bishop said he was "very happy" and entrusted the whole parish community to the invocation of Christ the King.
