Lorca City Council approves its twinning with the French town of Adissan (02/06/2016)

The four municipal groups have backed this initiative part of the town in which more than 50% of its residents are Lorca or descendants of these.

Municipal Corporation of the City of Lorca has approved with the consensus of all four municipal political groups twinning Sun City with the French town of Adissan, responding to the unanimous agreement of the Plenum of the town to start this record, as well as appoint the mayor of Lorca Son of said Villa as part of its festivities.

In this sense, Jodar has recalled that "in this French town of just over 1,000 inhabitants, of whom 800 live in their old town and more than 50% of its residents are Lorca or descendants of Lorca who began to settle in this town in the 1920s. "

"This is because of a people that has a very important lorquinas roots, which have been preserved over time, never losing the emotional ties and we intend now to consolidate this twinning beyond a friendship, to become a tool for exchange of experience and mutual enrichment in many different areas, "said the mayor.

In fact, the union of the citizens of these two cities has gone beyond visits, showing adisaneses his closeness and solidarity with Lorca when earthquakes of 2011 and 2012 floods suffered.

In addition, the main economic activity of Adissan is wine production, a sector that in the districts high Lorca has been improving in quality and craftsmanship in ceramics, metalwork, weaving, ... arts are also a hallmark of Lorca and whose relations of solid friendship can be an ideal place to develop mutual cooperation in trade framework.

Remember that the town of Lorca is already twinned with other French towns such as Saint Fons (in the delRódano-Alpes region) and Mauguio (Languedoc-Roussillon), which would enhance mutual understanding and dialogue, reinforces the feeling of membership of the European Union and a common identity respecting diversity.

In addition, Lorca is twinned with the city of Vera Almeria and Barcelona Molins de Rey and Wilaya of Aaiiun (Laâyoune-Boujdour-Sakia El Hamra) in the Western Sahara.
