The Governing Council has authorized the Ministry of Culture and Spokesperson to award a grant of 151,169 euros to the Bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena for the restoration of the paintings of St. James Church of Lorca.
This church retained some paintings that were affected by earthquakes in May 2011 and constituting a cultural, historical, artistic and documentary value of the building.
Some are unknown and have been uncovered during the rehabilitation of the building and others are badly damaged by earthquakes.
Thus, the recovery line drawing to the choir will be held;
the murals of the first and second chapel on the Gospel side;
the spandrels of the dome of the transept and the chapel of the Sacramento and restoration of mural paintings in the Chapel of Baptism.
This action is part of the Master Plan for the recovery of cultural heritage of Lorca.
