The Socialist Party denounced ADIF leaves out the removal of level crossings in Lorca and calls for a solution to the Alameda de Cervantes (02/09/2016)

The Municipal Socialist Group claims that ADIF has left out the municipality in the new plan for the elimination of level crossings despite there being many without barriers in rural areas where living sparsely populated and there are large farms, and demand that a solution be given the Alameda de Cervantes to the next remodeling of the artery of the city and that is a bottleneck for urban mobility while not proceed to the burial of the road.

The Municipal Socialist Group, through Councillor David Romera, claims that the Railway Infrastructure Administrator (ADIF), public company under the Ministry of Development that builds and manages the operation of the lines and railway stations formerly dependent RENFE and FEVE , "has left out the town of Lorca in his new Plan suppression of level crossings that will develop in the coming years and involves the removal of 74 level crossings in different autonomous regions with a higher investment 300 million euros ".

Of them, he says the socialist mayor, "only two are to be removed in the region of Murcia, both in the narrow gauge line Cartagena-Los Nietos".

Thus, ADIF, the Ministry of Development, "marginalize once more on rail to the Region of Murcia and therefore Lorca, despite the existence of 68 crosses, of which 17 are located in the municipality lorquino "remarks.

In Lorca crossings without barriers level, specifies the Socialist councilor, "dispersion concentrate on stretch of railway line running between Lorca and Aguilas in the councils of Torrecilla and Almendricos, level crossings with a high level of traffic given the population in the territory and the existence of large farms in intensive regime which attract hundreds of workers and the continued passage of freight vehicles that output outside of our fruits and vegetables ".

It is therefore very necessary that "ADIF rush the elimination of level crossings that exist in the municipality to ensure road safety in rural areas where it runs the train tracks, but being realistic and tenor of the prospects of the public body, it seems that is not the work, "he lamented the mayor.

In this sense, Romera believes that "the lack of investment by ADIF in Lorca in regard to the elimination of level crossings, is in line with gridlock investment since the Popular Party came to power in 2011 so that the high speed service and modernization of the commuter arrives to our city ";

situation that for the Socialist councilor "is seriously damaging the local economy opportunities and development prospects that this infrastructure can generate short and medium term."

On the other hand, David Romera, asked the mayor of Lorca that "mediate and demand that ADIF rush conditioning step to the level in the Alameda de Cervantes and causing multiple inconvenience to drivers, cyclists and pedestrians, taking advantage of the refurbishment of this lorquina artery ", insisting that" the level crossing can not remain as it is, because it is a dangerous step and a bottleneck that seriously disturbs urban mobility. "

In this regard, Romera believes "the way to be effective and safe, and considering that will be located between two new roundabouts, must be expanded to fill the entire width of the avenue once it is remodeled for new sidewalks and bike lanes provided not stay there interrupted, it opens a new pedestrian crossing on the sidewalk Residencial San Rafael with corresponding indicative lights, new platforms of way on the roads permeabilicen this physical barrier is installed and current signals and half-barriers are replaced by more modern ".

To conclude the Socialist councilor is aware "that the ultimate solution to this level crossing pass through his disappearance when proceeding to the burial of the way" but "provisionally and until the burial is not a reality, this level crossing you must be in the best conditions of safety and functionality and should be fully adapted to the new reality and urban mobility which will soon Alameda de Cervantes, eliminating the current bottleneck ";

"Leaving the level crossing as it stands today, it would be an outrage, a new missed opportunity in improving the quality of life of Lorca," Romera sentence.
