Lorca receives award Honorable Headquarters of the International University of the Sea, which has been working with for the past 22 years (15/09/2016)

The delivery of this award has occurred this morning on the occasion of the inauguration of the course Education in Physical Activity and Health in Adolescence, whose development coincides with the celebration of the Sports Games Guadalentín.

Councilman Sports City of Lorca, Juan Francisco Martinez Carrasco, has reported that the city council has been honored by the University of Murcia (UMU) with the title "Honorary Headquarters of the International University of the Sea".

The mayor explained that this is a recognition for the municipality under its long history of effort, support and dedication demonstrated repeatedly in celebration of activities and summer courses are being developed in our city since 1995.

Sports Councilman emphasized that we are talking about a further step in the work from all areas of the municipality are being carried out for many years to strengthen the university profile of Lorca, and have had a determining point attaining the University Campus by which so much he has been fought.

Within our model city, enhanced Campus is essential.

Years ago we committed to provide a shock of magnitude to the area of ​​the district in which the former infantry barracks Sancho Dávila, which housed the regiment Mallorca 13. After transfer, included in the so-called Northern Plan of the Ministry of Defense settled time, Lorca accelerated a demand that has borne fruit, and today our city and can boast of having two classes of graduates trained in the classrooms of our Campus.

Martinez Carrasco, who has collected this recognition from the hands of Vice Chancellor of Education and Innovation of the University of Murcia, Pedro Miralles, has reported that the close cooperation of the City with this University, allows each year the organization of different courses for multiple branches.

This year, as more recent example, Lorca has hosted the III Course of Medieval Archaeology of Sefarad, held at the Municipal Archaeological Museum, one on Neonatology and neural abnormalities of premature children, focusing on early care and family as well as the so-called Educate Physical Activity and Health in Adolescence, inaugurated this morning, coinciding with the development Guadalentín Sports Games.
