The Community awarded this month the works that will prevent flooding in the Rambla de Viznaga Lorca (05/10/2016)

The works have a tender budget of two million euros and a lead time of six months

The Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure awarded this month the enlargement works of drainage, collection and disposal of rainwater from the coastline of Viznaga of Lorca, which will double the drainage capacity and avoid the effects and damage to possible flooding.

The works will include increasing the number of arches that support regional roads RM-11 (Lorca-Eagles) and RM-621 (Lorca Purias) that cross the boulevard of Viznaga.

This was announced today the CEO of Roads, Jose Antonio Fernandez Lladó, during his meeting with neighbors and residents in the deputation of Campillo and which also involved the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar.

Llado Fernandez said that these works "are very important to Lorca, which has already suffered in the past the effects of heavy flooding, as St. Wenceslas, which highlighted the need to increase capacity again."

In his speech, he stressed that the Rambla de Viznaga has special conditions as it collects water from the wadis of the Torrecilla, Bejar and part of the Nogalte, which makes "can reach a very important flow, as happened in the flood of St. Wenceslas "and also" it has a very definite channel and its drainage capacity has been reduced over the years in the environment of the road Lorca-Eagles ".

Therefore, the Director General stressed the regional government's goal "to solve this situation of the promenade so they do not reoccur possible disasters in this area".

José Antonio Fernández Lladó recalled that these works have received a total of 52 bids during the bidding process and in the coming days will proceed to the award and formalization of the contract, which will begin work soon.

Drain extension

The works, said the CEO, will consist of the construction of 22 new frames to facilitate drainage and evacuation of rainwater, in addition to the 21 existing frameworks, "doubling the current capacity of the boulevard."

The works have a budget of two million euros and a lead time of six months.

Specifically, in the Lorca and Aguilas motorway 14 new frames will be built at the junction with the boulevard of Viznaga, which will double the arches for the evacuation of rainwater.

At this junction there are currently 16 arches and, with these works, will have a total of 30. Thus, its drainage capacity will expand to 1,250 cubic meters per second.

And on the road of Puri, currently has 5 arches for water harvesting, 8 new frames will be built.

In short, these 13 frames have a drainage capacity of 600 cubic meters per second.

Other works

Also in this meeting with neighbors, the mayor of Lorca said it is in writing project phase conditioning middle path that will allow widening and paving the existing road and placement of points of light.

This project has an estimated 60,000 euros under the collaboration agreement between the Ministry of Development and the city of Lorca for the improvement of rural roads budget.

They were also informed residents of the performance improvement will take place on the pavement Quijero Way, which is under writing project.

These works are included in an agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration and the City of Lorca and have a cost of 18,700 euros.
