IU-V requires actions on the ground instability in the districts of Lorca (02/11/2016)

On Saturday 29 October, warned by neighbors of the environment, the Spokesman of the Municipal Group of IU-V, Pedro Sosa, presented himself in the street Riquelme, a few meters from the house of the mayor himself, and checked as a stone large had just come off in that area of Cabezo Calvario Viejo neighborhood of San Cristobal and literally crushed a house inhabited that neighborhood, which fortunately was at that time without its inhabitants.

According to Sosa, it is not the first time recently something similar happens there.

Just a year ago a similar stone hillock was clear down causing damage to the homes in its path until it reaches almost to the walls of the Church of San Cristobal.

For the Speaker of IU-V, soil instability in the place described, and other high areas of Lorca as Santa Maria, San Pedro, San Juan, Calvary and San Lazaro, required in the immediate urgent action by the local administration.

It is no longer just to avoid possible damage to adjacent homes to these hillocks.

Especially this is to prevent one of those rocks end up causing damage to people.

IU-V recorded last Monday morning a letter to the Councillor for Urbanism, Saturnina Martinez, urging him to urgently will mandate the relevant technical services to make appropriate visits to the districts mentioned to check soil stability and rocks in them and carry out any works to ensure they are accurate and avoid landslides that may cause damage to things and people.

Councilman IU-V states that neither the councilor or the government team as a whole may say they are not warned if the end is a disgrace.

Sosa recalled that screens that were placed in the area Castle Lorca got in his day thanks to an initiative of IU-V, but that such protection should be extended to other high areas of Lorca where the danger of detachment is at first glance, very high, and if they occur, as it is not ruled out, earthquakes.
