The Mobility Plan of Lorca seeks to reduce the time spent by the neighbors in their movements to the work centers (13/11/2016)

Lorca is the second municipality in the Region to develop a mobility plan to achieve a sustainable, connected and intelligent city

The Plan for Sustainable Urban Mobility in the city of Lorca, which promotes the Ministry of Development and Infrastructures together with the City Council, seeks to reduce the time spent by citizens on their journeys to workplaces, as well as increase their safety and quality of work. lifetime.

The director general of Planning, Architecture and Housing, Nuria Fuentes, said that "we are at the right time to make all the necessary contributions and to produce the document Lorca needs to improve communication in the city."

He explained that the time spent in the transport has been evaluated to reach the work center and this "can be considered a lost time, as well as hours that are taken away from rest time, a reality increasingly present in a good part of the workers" .

It is for this reason that methodologies and case studies are being taken into account at national level for the sustainable planning of transport to workplaces, in order to implement measures and good practices on mobility in this field.

Sources underscored that the Plan is in an "advanced" drafting phase and will include measures to "promote accessible and connected mobility to urban areas and the development of a sustainable urban transport system that responds to the basic needs of citizens ".

The director general made these reflections during the holding of an information session that took place this week in the Palacete Ruano on mobility in the framework of elaboration of this plan.

This meeting brought together national and local experts to discuss issues and planning of sustainable mobility to workplaces, such as industrial estates and large companies.

The next briefing will focus on child mobility.

It is expected that representatives of educational and training centers, parents 'associations, and teachers' unions will attend.

With the development of the Plan, Lorca is the second municipality in the Region, after the city of Murcia, to develop a comprehensive mobility plan that improves its environmental and quality of life indicators and make Lorca a sustainable, connected and intelligent city.
