Culture presents the management carried out after the earthquakes of Lorca in the'X Biennial of the restoration and management of the Patrimony' (13/11/2016)

The Ministry of Culture and Portavocía, through the General Directorate of Cultural Assets, participates in the X Biennial of the restoration and management of the Heritage.

AR & PA 2016 ', which is celebrated during this weekend in Valladolid.

The management carried out after the earthquakes of Lorca in 2011 and the protection of rock art coats declared Unesco World Heritage are the themes of the days in which the people responsible for Culture intervened.

About the participation of the Region of Murcia in this meeting, the Director General of Cultural Property, Maria Comas, stated that "this has become an example of the great conservation work that is done to protect and maintain in the best conditions More than a hundred caves and coats that it owns, and which house examples of Levantine rock art ".

He also highlighted the participation, a few months ago, of those responsible for the Ministry of Culture at the XIX International Congress of rock art.

Comas added that in addition to the conservation of its rock art, "the Region has also been an example of good practices in the X Biennial of Restoration and Heritage Management", in the 'Management of risks and emergencies in heritage' Where Miguel San Nicolás presented the performance made after the earthquakes happened in Lorca in 2011 and how the historical and cultural heritage of the city has since recovered.

"The earthquakes caused the greatest asset disaster in Europe since World War II," said the director general, who recalled that the actions carried out by the regional government, in collaboration with the Ministry and the City of Lorca, "have been applauded from Europe And, last May, the patrimonial recovery of six churches in Lorca received the European Union of Cultural Heritage Award 'Europa Nostra' ".

Comas also stressed that "the Region has been a pioneer in the protection of heritage with other actions such as the creation, this year, of the Emergencies Unit in Cultural Heritage, which will allow a faster and more effective action against natural disasters such as earthquakes or Fires which, in addition to threatening the security of citizens, may affect cultural heritage ".
