The Councilor for Economy and Finance in the City of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has reported that thanks to the efforts being made by the Local Administration, the municipal debt at this time of the year records a record cut.
In fact, in the global debt package (which integrates the debt with banks and suppliers) we have achieved an improvement of € 19,826,047.75 in this year.
Fulgencio Gil has said that this is a highly positive news for all citizens.
Today is a good day, in which we have the opportunity to congratulate ourselves on what, thanks to the understanding of all Lorca, we are being able to achieve.
We must remember that when in 2007 the current Local Administration took over the management of this City Hall we find a heavy slab in the form of 105 million euros of debt, in addition to a rate of indebtedness and expenditure completely runaway.
The successive savings plans, elimination of superfluous expenses and economic efficiency have allowed us to go beyond stages, achieving objectives and getting the debt against Lorca to be reduced at a rate of 66,086.82 euros per day during 2016.
The Edil de Economía stressed that at the beginning of this year we had 64,086,250.1 euros, a figure that we have already lowered to 46,330,566.83 euros, which represents a cut of 17,755,683.27 euros.
The City Council, by virtue of the current data, has managed to bring the municipal debt back to 2003 levels. Reference should also be made to the fact that debt in 2007 was 145% of the budget, whereas at present it has been reduced Percentage up to 65%.
The Edil de Economía has pointed out that thanks to the continuous efforts of all municipal areas, which have been fully involved in the improvement of municipal accounts, it is possible for the City Council to achieve economic autonomy, that is, it also consolidates its self-financing. Economic independence allows us to sustain the provision of quality services with our own resources and leave the debt to a technical minimum.
This achievement confirms that the measures of optimization and efficiency in the economic area that we have been developing during these years have been especially beneficial for all Lorca.
In fact, the budgetary effort we are doing allows Lorca to have sound and efficient accounts and free up resources to increase investment and improve service delivery.
