Francisco Jodar: "Together we will be stronger to recover our historical center, which has to be an attractive area in which Lorca people like to live" (21/11/2016)

The Mayor is committed to repeating this type of consensus in the areas of municipal management as an example for the joint work of Lorca society.

The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, along with Councilman of Historic Casco, Francisco Garcia, indicated this morning that one of the priority lines of action to accentuate the revival of the historic center is to make it an interesting area in which to Citizens find it attractive to live.

This is the challenge, that the historical center is a place where citizens like to reside.

The First Edil has pointed out that during the work of this Municipal Administration are materializing numerous initiatives and investments aimed at improving our historic center.

We can talk, in this regard, of the achievement of the Feder Funds, the integral reform of the Squares of Spain, the Caño and Cardenal Belluga, as well as the works of improvement in the popular Alamo Street, among others.

The recovery of the architectural treasure that we have in our historic quarter is a major boost for Lorca, making monuments rise from their rubble.

And we must remember that thanks to the ambitious action that we carried out to consolidate the rocky massif on which the castle stands, the damages were not greater.

We are now in full execution of the Master Plan for the Recovery of the Heritage, which is providing aid to recover homes with grades 1 and 2, which we are now going to extend to grade 3.

Francisco Jodar has anticipated that the extraordinary meeting held today on the historic center is a positive initiative that provides an interesting consensus.

This Administration has met in recent weeks with Ceclor, Union of Merchants and Chamber of Commerce, among other groups, in order to evaluate how projects are running and implement new proposals.

One of the actions that we are going to carry out is the recasting of the many studies that have been carried out on our historical center with the purpose of concretizing the interventions that can contribute to continue improving the historical center.

This is a proposal derived from the work of the City Council which has already been commissioned by a team of experts from the universities of the Region.

Francisco Jodar has also explained that the work of the City Council focuses on the search of funds to finance the interventions to be continued in the historic center, a task for which it is very positive to have unanimity of the Town Hall Plenary .

Together we are stronger, and we are committed to forming a Unified Revitalization Strategic Plan in this regard.

The Mayor has informed that a Multidisciplinary Sectorial Council will be constituted to work on the evaluation of the measures of this unified plan, as well as its prioritization.

Let's all contribute and this be the plan of all for our historical center.

The First Edil has pointed out that from the Municipal Consistory will continue to bet on events of all kinds in the historic center, a line that has become a positive tool of social revival to give life to this area.

As a closer example we can mention the medieval market of the patron saint festivities of San Clemente, which this year has returned to the Plaza de España and its adjacent streets, and has attracted thousands of citizens.

Together with these events, the City Council is committed to maintaining the administrative headquarters in this helmet, as is the construction of the Palace of Justice.

In the commercial aspect, the launching of the Market of the Sun, can constitute a revulsive for the zone.
