The Department of Equality convenes the VI Short Story Literary Contest "Women" with the aim of raising awareness and awareness of female discrimination (31/01/2017)

The Councilor for Equality of the City of Lorca, Lali Ibarra, has announced the launch of the VI Short Story Literary Contest "Women" whose aim is to commemorate the 8th of March, International Day of Working Women.

Ibarra explained that "through this contest we promote equality and raise awareness among the population, while highlighting the values ​​of a society committed to equality and combating discrimination against women in different ways. That literary creation allows us to speak about those issues that affect women and to defend equality from all points of view. It is necessary to emphasize the great reception that this literary competition has had in its five previous editions in which they presented a great Amount of work, which highlights the importance and interest that women, and other issues related to it, raise in society. "

The Edil said that "the theme of the work should always be related to the role and situation of women in any area (family, work, gender violence, education, etc.). Of a minimum and maximum two folios, and will be presented without signing, under the system of plica The works will be original and rigorously unpublished, not previously awarded in any other contest, nor subject to any commitment of editing. The works can be delivered from 13:00 hours on Tuesday 31 January to 13:00 hours on Thursday 23 February, accepting, in the case of postal items, those envelopes postmarked on 23 February.

The best story will receive as a prize a computer, the second classified will get a tablet while the third will get a smartphone.

A special second place finish will also be awarded, provided that no participant residing in Lorca has won any of the first three prizes.

The jury will be chaired by Lali Ibarra, Councilor for Equality of the City of Lorca, and will be composed of María Victoria Sánchez Andújar, former member of the Association of Housewives, Consumers and Users and writer;

Alicia Rodrigo Carrasco, president of the Association of Widows Virgen del Alcázar and retired teacher;

Antonio Ortega Fernández, director of IES José Ibáñez Martín and writer;

José Tomás Ríos, professor of the IES Prince of Asturias;

Andrés Porlán Torroglosa, graduated in Hispanic Philology and writer;

Damián Bravo Barnés, director of the IES San Juan Bosco, and María Ángeles Aragón Aguirre, official of the Department of Equality.
