A total of 65 companies have submitted their offers to opt to perform the improvement works on the streets around the Center of Fairs and Congresses of Lorca (28/02/2017)

These works are part of the project of integral remodeling of the neighborhood of Santa Quiteria and La Virgen de las Huertas de Lorca, which has a regional government investment of 1.3 million euros.

A total of 65 companies have submitted their offers to opt for the execution of works to improve the streets around the Center of Fairs and Congresses located in the neighborhood of Santa Quiteria and La Virgen de las Huertas de Lorca, which has a Budget of the regional government of 1.3 million euros and will be contracted by the City of Lorca.

In fact, as explained by the Councilor for Recruitment, Juan Francisco Martinez, the City Council's Recruitment Bureau starts today the assessment of the proposals submitted for this investment to be executed by the Council of Works.

The urban renewal will focus on Horno, Santa Quiteria, Painter Salvador Zamora, Tocino Bridge and Virgen de las Huertas Avenue, where a collector will be installed.

Among the works, the most outstanding performance is the union of the streets Horno and Santa Quiteria to improve the pedestrian mobility of the neighbors of the neighborhood and also the movements of the vehicles, by widening, extension and opening of the street Pintor Salvador Zamora , Which until now is a dead end, and will go from 8 to 12 meters and will include trees and car parks.

It will also proceed to widen and increase the space for pedestrians in the aforementioned Horno and Santa Quiteria streets, improving at the same time the underground services and the pavement, in addition to the remodeling of the square of the Tocinos Bridge, where the façade Main part of the new trade fair building.

Rivera stressed that these works "are an important step in the comprehensive renovation of the neighborhood and that is the image of the new and modern city of Lorca, with innovative services and furniture, to improve the quality of life of residents and renew access to the new Fairgrounds.

The purpose is to "turn the neighborhood into a modern space that, with the construction of the fairground, increase the commercial, cultural and business activity of the city," said the regional official.

The machines have already begun work on what will be the second building of the new Center of Fairs and Congresses of Santa Quiteria, which will have an area of ​​4,661 square meters and will be diaphanous, allowing the sample of animals during the Livestock Fair, Industrial and Agroalimentaria (Sepor) and the International Fair of the Horse of Lorca (Fericab), as well as the realization of other shows and social, cultural or sports events throughout the year, by means of the possibility of installing detachable tribunes that would be staggered in The lateral and frontal, surrounding the central space in which the act would be celebrated.

Once the two buildings of the fairgrounds have been completed, the exhibit area of ​​the exhibition center will have increased by more than 70 percent, going from the 5,010 square meters it had before its demolition to 8,600 square meters.

Among its facilities, it will include 150 underground car parks for exhibitors, a restaurant, a terrace of almost 1000 square meters for outdoor events, a multifunctional patio covered with tarps of another 2,000 square meters and three conference rooms, as well as a large hall Performances and concerts of more than 900 spectators.
