IU-V accuses the regional government of embezzling EIB money for the reconstruction of Lorca (22/03/2017)

Pedro Sosa calls it embarrassing to use the money from Europe for the earthquake to repair roads in other municipalities, while the historic center is falling apart

Pedro Sosa, councilman spokesman of the United Left Verdes Lorca, has denounced this morning the embezzlement that is occurring with the funds that the European Investment Bank provided for the reconstruction of Lorca after the earthquakes.

Specifically, Sosa has referred to the recent announcement of a tender for the Ministry of Public Works published in the BORM on March 18, which aims to reinforce the firm of the RM-332 road, between kilometers 35 + 520 and 37 + 720, with a total cost of € 396,908.37 and will be financed 100% from the EIB loan for the Lorca earthquake

This stretch of two km is comprised exclusively in the municipality of Mazarron, so the mayor wondered what this investment has to do with the reconstruction of our municipality.

This is inferred according to Sosa, that both our Mayor, also regional deputy, and the councilor of Works Eulalia Ibarra, instead of controlling the expenditure of this loan, are dedicated to look the other way and let the regional government, with Its president investigated at the head, we continue noune the money that Lorca still needs to alleviate the consequences of the fateful earthquake.

For Sosa, this is "regrettable and an insult for people who are still suffering the consequences of the earthquake" and will continue to investigate the use that is being given to the 185 million euros of the EIB loan to prevent them from occurring More situations of this type.
