150 families in Nogalte, Béjar, Henares and Zarzalico have a potable water supply thanks to a new section of 18.3 kilometers of network in which 778.000 € have been invested (29/03/2017)

To make this project possible, a survey on aquifer has been built and 295 meters of driving have been renovated.

The supply network of the municipality exceeds 1,150 kilometers, serving 37,500 connections.

The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jódar, together with the Councilor for Water in the Municipal Consistory, Angel Mecca, has reported the start of operation of the potable water supply network that allows to supply this service to more than 150 families from various places Located in the districts of Nogalte, Béjar, Henares and Zarzalico.

It is a new infrastructure that has meant a total investment of 778,000 euros carried out by the City and Aguas de Lorca.

The Mayor explained that to make this project possible, an aquifer survey has been constructed in Zarzalico, whose water resources will serve to provide coverage to these neighbors.

The infrastructure has cost specifically 250,000 euros.

Next to the same has been installed a new branch of more than 18 kilometers of length of pipe to distribute the water among the new users.

It is a pipeline of 90 mm of diameter in 7,355 meters and pipe of 63 mm in 10,970, to concretely add 18,325 meters.

Jódar Alonso pointed out that 295 meters of the lowering line of the tank have also been renovated, replaced by a polyethylene pipe with a diameter of 160 mm.

It should be noted that the neighbors have paid half of the cost of the implementation of the pipeline (170,000 euros).

The First Edil has stated that with this important improvement, the municipal water supply network exceeds 1,150 kilometers in length, while the sewerage network reaches 400 kilometers.

The total number of users is 37,500.

The construction of this new section of network and the consequent survey allow the supply of drinking water to reach the westernmost part of the municipality, to a fully rural deputations.

It should be noted that the width of the municipal term Lorca, which is dominated by small, dispersed and isolated population centers, entails an over-effort by the City Council when making investments.

Precisely because of this particular geographic distribution, it is necessary to prioritize the actions so that the advances gradually benefit the whole territory,

The Mayor has expressly thanked the neighbors for their collaboration to make this historic improvement possible and has encouraged them to continue working together to consolidate the Lorca field as a land of services and equality among its inhabitants.

The aim of the City Council in this matter is to continue expanding the municipal network to try to cover all the Lorca sites, including some nuclei in enclaves far from the urban center and whose access is especially difficult.

We must take into account that there are many homes and facilities for agricultural and livestock use that have been established in a widespread way in all corners of our municipality, which is a very positive development for both residential use and exploitation of different Areas;

Encompassing livestock, agriculture and tourism, with the significant advance of rural tourism as an enriching and future element for our districts.
