The 23rd Lorca Sports Gala will award Fran Tomás, Mario Carrasco and Beatriz García Porlán, among other athletes and outstanding clubs. The awards will be presented on Saturday, May 6 at the Guerra Theater at 7:30 p.m. (06/04/2017)

The Councilor for Sports of the City of Lorca, Juan Francisco Martínez Carrasco, has released the ruling of the jury of the Lorca Sports Awards.

A total of 19 people and clubs will receive their awards in the course of the XXIII Sports Gala to be held on Saturday May 6 at the Teatro Guerra de Lorca.

As of Monday, April 10, invitations will be available at the Sports House.

Beach volleyball player Fran Tomás has won for the second consecutive year the Prize to Best Sportsman in Absolute Category.

Among other merits, Tomás won the bronze medal in the Spanish Championship held in Fuengirola last August, as well as the 4th place in the Contienental Cup held in Norway, remaining only 4 points to attend the Games in Rio de Janeiro .

The Best Male Team of the Year has been the absolute male of Club Petanca San Diego, third place in the National League of Men's 1st Division Clubs held in Santa Susana (Barcelona) last October.

The female basketball senior of the Eliocroca Sports Association has been the best female team, as he ratifies his promotion to the 1st National Division.

The prize for the Best Sportsman Promise has fallen, in the men's category, in Mario Carrasco Ayén, bronze medalist in the Junior Cycling Road Spain Championship held in Reinosa (Cantabria) and winner of a test of the Spanish Cup.

In female category the winner was chess player Beatriz García Porlán, sub-champion of Spain of Quick Chess sub-18 in the Championship celebrated in Salobreña.

The best Men's Team Promise has been the Men's Under-18 of the Chess Club Lorca, thanks to the third place achieved in the Championship of Spain of the category held in Benidorm.

The Most Outstanding Sport Gestation was led by Raimundo Caro Porlán, who was 1st in the category +55 in the XXXII Rise to the Peak of Veleta, one of the toughest road race in the world, covering 50 kms.

The award for Best Sports Promotion and Dissemination by schools will be given to the Ciudad del Sol School for its participation in the 2015/2016 School Sport program with a total of 753 participations, 136 events and / or matches played in 14 different modalities, reaching 12 regional finals between collective and individual sports.

The Prize to the Best Local Entity for its work of promotion, diffusion and management within the sports field will go to the Eliocroca Sports Association, one of the great sport references at local level that celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

The Prize to the sporting event organized in the Region of Murcia that has stood out for its repercussion or validity will be for the Mountain Passage of Mountain of Alhama that organizes the Sports Association Leyva and that this year will celebrate its 30 anniversary.

Also will be given 6 Special Mentions that recognize technical, research, promotion or other activities related to the world of physical activity.

These have fallen to José María Sánchez Martínez, appointed by FIFA as an international football referee;

The commission for the selection of prizes has been formed by the Mayor, Councilor for Sports, a representative of each political party with municipal representation, municipal technicians of the Department of Sports, members of the local sports press and, for the first time, members Of the Sectorial Council for Physical Activity and Sport, a body of participation in which groups such as the Federation of Women's Organizations, the Youth Council, Neighborhood Associations, the Physical Education and Sport Forum, Secondary, social associations, high performance athletes and clubs and sports associations.
