The Guardia Civil Cavalry Squadron, based in the municipality of Valdemoro, Madrid, will celebrate its participation this Friday in the Biblical-Passion Parades of Holy Week in Lorca, its XI Anniversary providing escort to the image of Our Mother Holy Virgin of Sorrows, titular of the Brotherhood of Labradors, Blue Step.
It should be remembered that in 2008 the Squadron received the highest distinction of the blues, being named Honorary Maid of the Brotherhood, merit that was given to him at the Friday Mass of Dolores in the church of San Francisco, religious headquarters of the Blues
El Paso Azul also delivered to the aforementioned Cavalry Squadron the flags for the clarinets section, a series of embroidered pieces in the workshops of the Brotherhood.
This section of the Armed Institute also received its logo and embroidered shield in the same workshops.
The pennant is made with the traditional lorquina technique.
Over 500 hours of embroidery were invested in its execution, being realized on satin Andalusian green and yellow gold.
On one side is embroidered the National shield and on the other the one of the Cavalry Squadron itself.
By the express request of the commanders of the same, appears in its lower right margin the name of the Brotherhood of Labradors.
The participation of this section in the parades of Holy Week Lorquina goes back to 1999, during the last year of mandate of the president of Paso Azul, Cristóbal Alcolea Paredes.
The tradition that the Squadron escorts the head of the Brotherhood of Labradors is due to the fact that during the second half of the 20th century the Civil Guard on horseback opened the Biblical Parades.
The custom would be lost when the section on horseback was removed from the city.
It is the only Sable Horse Squadron that remains active throughout Europe.
It is the mounted unit of the Civil Guard that assumes along with his usual work duties, honors and protocol.
It has its headquarters in the municipality of Valdemoro in Madrid.
It is part of the Reserve and Security Groups (GRS).
In the parade of tomorrow will take part 17 components of the same that will arrive at Lorca during the day of today Thursday.
