Enlargement of the Zúñiga road will improve the road safety of the main access to the Lorca population. The width of the road will be extended up to five meters and a raised overpass over the Muerto Ravine will be implemented, allowing the circulatio (19/04/2017)

The improvement works that the Ministry of Development and Infrastructure and the City of Lorca carry out in the nucleus of population of Zúñiga, Lorca de Torrealvilla deputation, will allow to increase the road safety of the main access to the population.

José Antonio Fernández Lladó, director general of the Highways, and the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, visited this morning the works that run the session by a subsidy from the Community, from the European Investment Bank loan, An investment of more than 173,000 euros.

The action allows to improve the road safety of 1.3 kilometers, linking the towns of Zúñiga and Zarzadilla de Totana, with the extension of the road in 1.5 meters and elimination of the most dangerous curves of the route.

The road will reach five meters with the widening and the average elevation will be recreated in 6 centimeters thick, for which excavation and clearing work will be carried out to achieve a regularity on the road surface.

The director stressed that "to avoid the problems that the population suffers from heavy rains, a pass over the ravine of the Muerto that allows the circulation of vehicles when there is water on the promenade."

To carry out this work will install a battery with eight frames two meters wide by one meter high and seven meters in length, which will raise the road at this point and will facilitate the water pass under the track.

In addition, other infrastructures are contemplated that allow to increase the hydraulic conditions of the section to facilitate the evacuation of rainwater.

The works include the improvement of vertical signage and the renovation of the horizontal.

The period of execution is three months.

Fernández Lladó said that "this is one more action in the municipality of Lorca that shows the commitment of the regional government with the growth and recovery of Lorca."

These works are part of the project to renovate roads in rural areas of the municipality that were affected by the earthquakes of 2011. In particular, 14 works have been carried out to improve rural roads and roads in more than 10 districts and work continues on The execution, adjudication and drafting of seven other projects.
