IU asks the mayor to require pediatric surgery, interventional hemodynamics (catheterizations) and more personnel in the Rafael Méndez (24/04/2017)

The councilor of this training, Gloria Martín, has asked by letter to Francisco Jodar to "take seriously" his role as regional deputy for the constituency number one and urge in the Regional Assembly a motion so that the Ministry of Health of the Murcia government Meet the needs of staff and new services of the regional hospital

The councilor of Izquierda Unida Verdes, Gloria Martín, today asked the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jódar, to "take seriously" his role as regional deputy for the constituency number one and urge in the Regional Assembly a motion for counseling Of Health of the Murcia government to meet the needs of personnel and new services of the regional hospital Rafael Méndez.

Martín referred to the statements made by the Director-General of Health Area III, Catalina Lorenzo, who, following the complaint by IU-Verdes about the precariousness of the work that affected the workers of the Emergency Department of Rafael Méndez, acknowledged the Problematic and affirmed that "management insists whenever it has occasion" that more personnel is achieved.

For this reason, the mayor of IU-Verdes urged Jódar to "take the initiative" and demand the autonomic executive of his party to expand the staff of this and other services to end a workload that implies that in The Rafael Mendez, nursing staff attend to 350% more patients than recommended in the quality standards of care.

For Martín, Jódar's lack of involvement with the health needs of Lorca and the region makes him "an accomplice of the policy of brutal budget cuts and progressive deterioration of Public Health," placing him as an advocate for the interests of his party Rather than as a public servant, who is "for what was elected by the citizens."

Something that has also been revealed by his inability to promote the construction of a new health center in the area of San Cristóbal neighborhood or the reopening of the Primary Care Emergency Service in San Diego.

According to Martín, these deficits must be added to the lack of a pediatric surgery unit that prevents travel to Murcia and guarantees the care of children under five years of age in their area of reference.

The lack of pediatric anesthesiologists at the Rafael Méndez Hospital forces them to operate out of their place of residence to children affected by very mild pathologies, such as hernias or tonsillitis, or by acute processes such as appendicitis.

Lorca also does not have an interventional hemodynamic service in cardiology that allows catheterization without the need for a transfer to the Virgin of the Arrixaca.

In that sense, Martín recalled that the hospital of Santa Lucía, in Cartagena, already has this benefit, which again highlights the discrimination to which the Health Area III is subjected.

For all this, the mayor of IU-Greens has sent a letter to the mayor so that, as a regional deputy, for which he charges almost 50,000 euros a year in the margin of his "diets" for attending collegiate bodies of the City Council Lorca promotes an initiative in the autonomous parliament that attends to the just needs expressed by users and workers of the Murcian Health Service in Lorca and its region.
