Adoración Peñas regrets that opposition groups have not been counted on for this project directed to the districts of San Diego, San Cristóbal, Apolonia and Los Angeles

Adoración Peñas, a councilor of United Green Left in the town hall of Lorca, this morning showed his discomfort for the opacity that has returned to show the government team, this time with the project to promote interculturality and social integration of Immigrant groups in the city's neighborhoods with the highest immigration rates: San Diego, San Cristobal, Apolonia and Los Angeles.

This European project, which has a budget of five million euros and competes with other cities in 28 EU countries, is aimed at promoting employment programs, support for young people and women, improving trade, etc.

In those neighborhoods, in which the percentage of immigrants increased from 0.1 to 30% from 1999 to 2007. In addition, according to the Mayor's explanations, would include improvements in the urban environment, housing, facilities for the youth center M13 and Various artistic and cultural promotion activities area.

Some 30 entities have participated in this project, among citizens and educational centers in the area, and it has the support of the UMU, Cruz Roja, Cepaim and Cazalla Intercultural, which in turn would act as project partners In case of being approved, being able to increase in this case the financing of the same until the 6 million euros.

For Peñas, although the fact that these organizations support the project offers guarantees of quality and safety, this participation shows gaps and is not as the Mayor paints in his statements, since the study and writing of the project has been entrusted to a Private enterprise and there is no certainty that the contributions and suggestions made at the time by the social and educational groups in the area have been included in it, since only a brief meeting was held with them before the elaboration of the Project and the second time they met with them and it was for the final presentation of the general lines of it.

Moreover, there has also been no participation or opinion of the opposition groups.

Therefore, according to Peñas, "we can affirm that the processes of social and citizen participation have been very scarce and deficient, while opacity and lack of transparency have been high."

She also fears the left-wing councilman "to happen the same as the project presented for the DUSI funds, which was left in sack broken without any formal knowledge by anyone of the same"

For Peñas, it is more than likely that the intentions of the government team in case of getting the project, is to allocate the five million euros to use them in street planning, construction of a new multipurpose civic center, conditioning and regeneration of the neighborhood, so Forgotten by the government team, instead of improving integration and multiculturalism, because it has been the same PP, which has turned these urban neighborhoods into ghettos with great needs among its inhabitants and alarming pockets of poverty and social exclusion.

"We tell the PP that we do not want any more pharaonic, useless and sterile works and that the social and civic participation is taken more seriously as a sign of respect for their fellow citizens"

Finally, the mayor has announced that they have already formally requested from their municipal group a copy of the project, to know in what terms has been raised and to be vigilant in the event that it was granted.
