The progress in the improvement works of the San Cristóbal neighborhood makes it necessary to make itinerary changes for road traffic (10/05/2017)

The Councilor for Citizen Security and Traffic of the City of Lorca, Belén Pérez, has reported that, due to the progress of works to improve basic infrastructure and urban renewal in the San Cristóbal neighborhood, will proceed to cut the traffic in Escalante Street in San Cristóbal neighborhood starting tomorrow.

The Edil de Seguridad Ciudadana considers it opportune to "establish special traffic regulations to cut traffic to vehicles, alternative routes for traffic, and the explicit prohibition of parking in the area."

In addition, it has indicated that "this new regulation will be of common application and enforced, except in cases of access to garages, passage of emergency vehicles and people to real estate."

Pérez Martínez has anticipated that "two alternative routes will be enabled for vehicles that have to travel through the San Cristóbal neighborhood. Vehicles coming from Calle Mayor and Calle Ortega Melgares, including school buses, that transit in the direction of San Cristóbal public schools And Juan González, to the soccer field Alfonso Embarre and adjacent zones, will circulate by Street Abellaneda, by the way between the indicated schools or by Street Ramblilla Tejares and viceversa ".

"If you wish to travel in the direction of these public schools, the Alfonso Embarre football field and adjacent areas from the Carretera de Caravaca, two routes are proposed: the first is San Fernando Street, Rafael Maroto Avenue, Rotonda Avda. Europa San Diego And from there to all directions. The second one, destined to vehicles up to 6 meters in length, starts from Calle Los Arcos and continues through Calle Portijico, Plaza de Hortalizas, Plaza la Estrella, Calle Mayor and itinerary described. In the case of light vehicles Of up to 5 meters in length, you must go through Los Arcos Street, Mulero Street and Abellaneda Street to the indicated schools ".

La Edil has stated that "the Local Police will monitor and indicate to the company responsible for the works the corresponding signaling for the alternative routes of traffic of vehicles, with the aim of ensuring the proper development of traffic safety in our city", and has Advised drivers, pedestrians and pedestrians who "take great precaution when traveling in that area in order to avoid accidents".

These improvement works are part of the Urban Renewal Plan of the San Cristóbal neighborhood, which represents an economic investment without predecessors in this neighborhood of Lorca, whose roads and urban areas were damaged after the earthquakes of 2011.
