The Community invests more than 7.5 million euros in the urban renewal of the district of San Cristóbal de Lorca (01/06/2017)

The Director General of Territorial Planning, Laura Sandoval, and the Mayor of Lorca visit the works of Tello Street

The Ministry of Presidency and Development and the City of Lorca continue with the execution of works to renovate the streets of the neighborhood of San Cristóbal, where the Community invests more than 7.5 million euros.

Laura Sandoval, Director General of Territorial Planning, Architecture and Housing, and Mayor Fulgencio Gil visited today the works that are carried out in Tello Street, one of the most important in the neighborhood.

Sandoval stressed that "the regional government continues with its absolute support for the reconstruction of the city after the earthquakes and we are slowly witnessing the new Lorca" and pointed out the coordination of the Community and the City.

In the works of Tello street, 240,000 euros are invested, financed by the Community within the action plan it carries out in the city, with a loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB), and are executed by the town hall.

It operates on an area of ​​543 square meters and will involve the installation of a new general supply network and the provision of a separate sanitation and rainwater network, for which 100 linear meters of pipeline will be used.

Public lighting, low voltage electricity distribution and distribution of telecommunications services will also be channeled underground.

Laura Sandoval explained that "the renovation of the neighborhood of San Cristobal are being implemented in phases to give greater satisfaction to the needs of neighbors."

Specifically, it consists of the renovation of the pavement, substitution of services and burial of wiring, and installation of a new supply and sanitation network.

The first phase includes seven streets: Gilberte, Ponce de León, Rio Duero, Contreras, Tizón, Avellaneda and Ferrer, while in the second phase it affects more than thirty streets.

The improvements are being carried out in Eulogio Periago, Tomás Soler, Rincón de Oliver, Serón, Río Mundo, Río Miño, Fray Beato Pedro Soler, Juan Mínguez, Escalante, Grajalva and Travesía Ródenas, Gregorio García, Melchor Navarro, Río Segre, Sil River, Rio Júcar, Calvario Viejo and Tello.

Over the next few weeks, Los Veras, Higuericas, García Bolea, Miguel Ángel, Juan López, Funes and Montijo streets will start.
