IU-verdes denounces the installation of a prefabricated classroom for children's students at San Cristobal College (08/06/2017)

They claim to Montiel a planned forecast of the needs of the educational centers and of a greater endowment of resources for the enlargements that take place.

Adoración Peñas, councilor of the municipal group of IU-Greens of Lorca has demanded the councilman of education, Francisco Montiel, a better planning of the educational resources of the municipality, since, although the next course will expand lines in ten schools for children and Which is good news, we have no guarantee that it will be done with the resources and supports that must necessarily be in line with the extension of lines.

Peñas has stated that the reason for expanding classrooms and lines seems to be due more to a statistical argument to lower ratios rather than a real interest in improving the welfare of students, since in no case is there any guarantee that the aforementioned extensions will Of more teachers, compensatory aids, attention to special educational needs, etc., nor have they taken into account the realities of each center.

The mayor has denounced the installation of a prefabricated barrack in San Cristobal school, as, as is known by the entire educational community, these facilities do not guarantee that students are in optimal conditions, bearing leaks, high temperatures in summer and cold In winter, sometimes without toilet (having to leave outside as long as it does) and with continuous faults in the electrical installation.

He also points out that, although the Ministry of Education considers the barracks as a transitional solution, the truth is that experience has shown that once installed, they can remain in the center for more than a decade.

Peñas has expressed his indignation at the installation of this prefabricated classroom for children's education students of that school, arguing that it is not a valid solution for any center, since it places the affected students in a position of comparative grievance with respect to others.

In that line, he said that his political group would oppose this "solution" in any school, but even more so in the case of San Cristóbal school, a center punished by the administration, which has turned it into a ghetto, with a percentage From 80 to 95% of immigrants per classroom, which makes it difficult for the educational development of the classes due to the lack of knowledge of the language on many occasions and the difficulty of the teaching staff to manage a student of many different nationalities and cultures.

Peñas recalls that since IU-Greens a few years ago raised a complaint to the Ombudsman regarding the unfair and disproportionate distribution of immigrant students among public and private Lorca schools, with a very high concentration in neighborhood schools, as well as in The José Robles;

A situation that is not seen modified with the establishment of the single district, since it is the circumstance that students of immigrant origin residing in the neighborhood of La Viña are enrolled in San Cristóbal.

They assert that the installation of a prefabricated classroom means double punishing a center that is already quite a lot by the local and regional administration and that is susceptible of receiving many more supports and supports than the ones obtained.

Therefore, Peñas has demanded that Montiel "move" and seek alternative solutions to the barracks, far from patching the situation and within the framework of a planned forecast, whether the construction of a nursery school or primary for the area , Or the most relevant solution, always counting on the opinion and participation of the educational community, especially the centers, teachers and FAMPA.

Once again, the councilor of IU-Greens has insisted on the need to expand participation in the Municipal School Council of the political groups that are part of the council, which are currently excluded, since in important issues such as this, decisions and Solutions must be plural and more participatory to provide a more effective, fair and viable response.
