This morning, two councilors of IU-Verdes of the Guadalentín region, Pedro Sosa, spokesman for this training in Lorca, and Víctor Romera, a spokesman for the same in the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras and specialist in labor law, appeared before the media.

The two councilors have tackled a current issue in our region and in our municipality: the employment situation and the extraordinary precariousness in which work is carried out in two specific economic sectors: agri-food and services.

Sosa has stated that of the 13,514 contracts signed in Lorca last May, no less than 98.24% (13.276) are temporary;

Sometimes a few hours, a day or a week, says Sosa, who also warns that these contracts can not be confused with jobs, despite the propaganda that the PP is usually made.

Disaggregating figures the councilor Lorca has reported that 9,783 contracts have been in the sector of seasonal agriculture and 3,439 in that of services.

The mayor has warned that more than 60% of this recruitment has been made through Temporary Work Companies (ETT's) through what are called "make-up contracts".

After recalling that the ETTs were an invention against the rights of workers who came to light in Spain in 1994, in the last legislature of the Government of Felipe González, Sosa has affirmed that the ETT's are replacing de facto the main function that should have the Public employment services, and they also do so by turning the Lorca labor market into a wasteland where there are more and more episodes of semi-collapse, with non-compliance with agreements, social rights and salary tables.

Sosa has warned that the public administrations - also the City of Lorca - must take action in the matter.

For the time being and in the medium and long term analyzing the weight that the various productive sectors have in the local economy and noting that it is not possible to develop a municipality like that of Lorca abandoning the economic sectors that generate more added value and also have better Wages.

We need to diversify our economy, says Sosa, but in the meantime it is necessary to fight against the irregular work that occurs every day in the countryside, the unfair competition that implies for some companies that work in black, without contracts or with contracts that do not collect The total hours worked.

Not only is stealing the workers, says Sosa, also the Social Security and the Public Treasury.

On the other hand Victor Romera has abounded in the role of the TTOs, clarifying in the first place that not all the companies of temporary work act outside the legality, that there are many that act legally, but that taking into account the weight of the same ones in The contracting of labor in the agri-food and services sectors, precariousness is widespread and widespread non-compliance with collective agreements and labor law, with wages that are not paid, or paid below what is stipulated, with the Realization of sections prohibited by law, with contracts that are rescinded if the workers become pregnant, with breaches in terms of vacations or occupational safety and health.

The worst thing, Víctor Romera points out, is that we know cases of ETT's that after being investigated and sanctioned, which is not frequent if we take into account their extension in Lorca, they change their name and are reassembled with another social reason so that the The same people who previously managed them continue to exploit the workers, making unfair competition to the companies that comply, and defrauding the Public Treasury and Social Security.

Romera said that soon they will appear with the Secretary General of CCOO of the Region of Murcia to propose a plan to combat labor irregularities in these sectors, demanding the public administration to articulate and start their police work and inspection, and Urging employers in the sector to also contribute to their complaint to identify and punish those companies - and the people behind them - who work in black and make workers work in conditions of semi-slavery.
