Lorca will have its first catalog of Arboreal Heritage to improve the maintenance of the most outstanding trees (16/06/2017)

The catalog is composed of a total of 110 specimens belonging to different species, which have been studied because of their uniqueness and the exceptional characteristics they have within their genus.

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has reported that during the month of May the Consistory has carried out the realization of the first catalog of Arboreal Heritage from the municipality of Lorca.

The objective is to provide citizens with teaching material and complementary guidance information to help identify the most emblematic trees in the municipality in order to promote learning about the rich natural heritage of Lorca, expanding knowledge about it.

"This study covers the trees included in Law 14/2016 of Monumental Arboreal Heritage of the Region of Murcia, those included in the General Municipal Urban Plan of Lorca of the year 2002 and the trees of the municipality that present a certain singularity or particularity Their age, rarity, size, size or geographic location, as well as their genetic or historical value, "Fulgencio Gil explained.

The arboreal species characteristic of our municipality that have been selected for their extraordinary qualities to integrate the inventory are the following: Ceratonia siliqua (algarrobo), Platanus orientalis (Plananornamental), Pinus pinea (Pine pinus), Pinus halepensis (Pin carrasco), Morus Alba (Morera), Ulmus minor (Olmo), Prunus dulcis (Almendro), Celtis australis (Alméz), Arbutus unedo (Madroño), Cupressus sempervirens (Cypress), Olea europea (Olive), Populus Alba (Poplar), Populus nigra Poplar), Juniperus oxicedrus (Juniper) and Tamarix canariensis (Tamarindo).
