"Lorca is the regional capital of TTOs and labor precariousness" (22/06/2017)

This morning the headquarters of CCOO in Lorca has been the place chosen by a wide representation of that union and IU-Greens to denounce the labor precariousness existing in the municipality of Lorca and in its region.

They sat at the same table Santiago Navarro, Secretary General of CCOO of the Region of Murcia;

Ángel Torregrosa, Regional Secretary of this union;

And the councilors and spokesmen of IU-V of three locations in the Guadalentín region: Pedro Sosa (Lorca), Victor Romera (Puerto Lumbreras) and Isabel Torrente (Eagles).

Trade union representatives and politicians have profusely abounded in the complaint they made a few weeks ago about the labor market situation in Lorca, stating that 98.24% of the contracts celebrated in this town in May are temporary And precarious and that were formalized in 60% through TTEs, by what are called "make-up contracts".

This is giving rise, say the convenors, to a widespread breach of collective agreements and labor law, with wages that are not paid, or are paid below what is stipulated.

In this sense it has been stated that the contracting companies of ETT's offer to these contracts some amounts with which it is sometimes impossible to pay the hourly wage of the worker and the payment of the social quotas that usually represents an additional third.

It is not strange, therefore, that the sections prohibited by law are common, and that a progressive replacement of buses by vans has been found, and that the transport has to be paid for by the workers.

This also leads to an increase in "in-itiner" accidents in view of the large displacements to which workers are subjected, which sometimes exceed one hundred kilometers and are transferred to farms in provinces such as Granada, Jaén, Almería or Albacete.

The Secretary General of CCOO, who has been the one who has contributed more, argues that it is necessary to analyze the reasons why Lorca has become a kind of capital of the ETT's in the Region of Murcia.

It is important, since this circumstance is directly related to some data that put Lorca in very bad place, since the labor precariousness in Lorca is almost ten points above the precariousness in the whole of Spain and near five points for On top of job insecurity in the Region of Murcia.

To seriously address this issue, the conveners of the press conference claim that soon they will ask the new Mayor of Lorca, who should be concerned about these data, a meeting from which can come out the establishment of a working table aimed at making a Exhaustive analysis of the labor reality in Lorca and provide solutions to what is undoubtedly a daily drama.
