The socialists urge the City of Lorca to join other municipalities in the Region such as those of Murcia, Cartagena, Molina de Segura or Totana, who have decided to show their support for the demands of the LGTBI collective and their commitment in the implementation Of policies that deepen the equality of all people, beginning with the simple gesture of hanging the rainbow flag in their town councils.
The councilor of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Andrea Periago has asked that the rainbow flag, symbol of the LGTBI collective, hang from the main balcony of the Lorca consistory.
The mayor recalls that we are in the week of pride LGTBI, a week of claiming equal rights for all, in which they call for an end to discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
Andrea Periago insists that we are in the week to remind those who have been persecuted for their sexual orientation and to make visible the need to continue the struggle, since it ensures that "despite the progress of our society, there are still traces of hatred and prejudice Towards people with a non-heterosexual orientation ".
From the PSOE remember that in the Region of Murcia we have a Law, the 8/2016 of Social Equality and Against Discrimination, which speaks of the need for Public Administrations to be actively involved in the visibility and support to the collective, Especially on designated dates such as tomorrow, June 28, International Day of Pride LGTBI.
Socialists say that a simple gesture "says a lot about us as a society", and that tomorrow hangs the rainbow flag of the balcony of the city of Lorca "would be one more reason to feel a City council more committed and more just."
