Councilor for Town Planning in the City of Lorca, Satur Martínez, has reported that the Municipal Consistory, through its Planning and Management area, has granted a license for works to rebuild the Avenida de Portugal building which had to be demolished A few months after the serious damage that the earthquakes of 2011 had caused in its internal structure.
Satur Martínez explained that, according to the documentation presented by the neighbors, who are the promoters of the new building, it is planned to build a block that will have a total of 6 floors, distributed in a basement, ground floor and 4 Heights.
The main novelty of the building will be the habilitation of a basement that will have dimensions of 235 m2, housing in its interior 8 storage rooms that will serve the corresponding 8 houses that would have room in the property.
This basement would also include a space for the deposit of waste by its neighbors as well as other installations of various equipment (communications services, electricity, ...) As in all reconstructions, the new building that has emerged is much better Than the one that was demolished, since it is more accessible, efficient, modern and safe.
The Edil de Urbanismo has detailed that the block of flats will maintain the 8 houses with which it counted before, also conserving the dimensions of each home.
It will incorporate, as an advantageous novelty for the residents, the most modern systems of energy efficiency, term and acoustic insulation, as well as the updated technical criteria in the field of construction safety.

The material execution price of the new infrastructure, according to the data provided by the municipal technicians, totals 470,000 euros, with works covering a total area of ​​1,425 m2.

It should be remembered that more than 95% of the buildings affected by the 2011 earthquake (24,000 homes, 800 commercial premises and 75 buildings of cultural interest) are rehabilitated or undergoing rehabilitation.

The number of inhabited houses demolished after the earthquakes reached 1,152, of which 920 have already been concluded and another 315 are in advanced phase of reconstruction.
