GlobaLab Guide: 6 Steps for Global Citizenship "collects results on good practice in education for a European project with 380 participants (11/07/2017)

The Councilor for Youth of the City of Lorca, Agustín Llamas, together with the Director General of Youth of the CARM, Francisco Sánchez, and Manuel Semitiel, Cazalla Intercultural, have presented the guide "GlobaLab: 6 steps for global citizenship", result of A joint work of 380 people for 2 years.

El Edil explained that "4 organizations from Lithuania, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Spain joined forces to implement the GlobaLab-2 project, which aims to increase youth participation and enable them to contribute to meet global challenges. As a goal to improve the quality of youth work and to unite efforts of youth and educational institutions to make young people the promoters of global citizenship Youth and youth workers from these countries have been involved in this project that has provided a series of results Which aims to create, direct and share good practices in education for global citizenship. The organization that has represented Spain in this initiative has been Cazalla Intercultural.

The GlobaLab project was a laboratory for young people, where they had the opportunity to think about the problems they face each day from a global perspective.

The project has also enabled its participants to identify the effects of global problems in their own lives and make them more active and responsible, transforming their everyday views, attitudes and habits.

The guide: "GlobaLab: 6 steps for global citizenship" is one of the results of this process.

The final publication, developed by an international team of youth workers from Bulgaria, Cyprus, Lithuania and Spain, has as its main objective to provide a framework of skills that young people across Europe need to develop personally and professionally, so that they can cope with a Globalized and interconnected world.

These competencies are listed and explained in detail in the guide.

In addition, it aims to provide not only the vision, but also the practical tools to achieve them.

For this reason, most of this publication offers a series of educational tools that aim to support young people on their way to active and responsible global citizenship.

These tools are grouped into four training modules around the themes of environment, technology, mobility and responsible consumption, among others.
