The Mayor signs with the Ministry of the Interior the recovery of the building of the former police station of the National Police Corps (18/07/2017)

It is a building that stands on a plot of 504 m2 located at the confluence of the Plaza de San Vicente with the street Lope Gisbert, in the area of the historic city.

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has reported that the City Council has recovered for all Lorca the property that served until a few months ago as the headquarters of the National Police Corps.

It is a building located in the Plaza de San Vicente, chamfering with the street Lope Gisbert, inside the historic center of the city, which stands on a plot with dimensions of 504 m2.

The Mayor explained that the agreement with the Ministry of Interior, initialed this morning in the Management of State Security Infrastructures, allows us to return to Lorca a building that constitutes an opportunity to continue advancing in the revitalization of Our historical old town.

In fact our goal is to make the building provide our city with the highest profitability in every way.

To do this, and before determining what use can be given, by a criterion of responsibility and safety, a thorough inspection of the existing construction structure will be carried out by the municipal technicians.

The objective is to evaluate its status, check the stability of its elements and establish the appropriate technical measures and solutions.

We are talking about a milestone for our city, since we are aware of the great possibilities it offers.

Fulgencio Gil has stated that the plots on which it is based were ceded by the Consistory in 1949 to the Government of Spain to lift the former police station, expiring the reversion of ownership in the early 80's. Now, thanks to the Negotiations carried out by the Municipal Executive, Lorca recovers ownership of the building for only 48,000 euros, payable in 4 annuities.

It should be recalled that the Town Hall Plenary, in its session held on December 1, 1949, agreed to acquire the three parcels, belonging to the so-called "Casa Juarez", to destine them "to make free transfer of them to the State so that They can be built by the General Directorate of Security of the Ministry of the Interior or Agency to which a barracks or accommodation for the Police Headquarters and Police Armed Forces Police Station of this Lorca Template, in order to equip such templates Of a wide, ventilated and modern construction, located in a central place of the population ".

The First Edil has reported that the assignment to the State of the parcel acquired, made by the aforementioned Town Hall agreement, was authorized by Order of the Ministry of the Interior communicated on December 6, 1950 through the Civil Government in Murcia.

The effective transfer of the domain was formalized by virtue of the public deed of free assignment granted on February 17, 1951 by José Parra García, then Alcalde de Lorca, and César Pérez García, Commissioner-Chief of the General Police Corps of Lorca, in Name of the General Directorate of Security under the Ministry of the Interior, expressly authorized by the Director General for that act.
