The councilor of IU-Greens of Lorca, Gloria Martín, has denounced a new breach of the PP on the date scheduled for the start of the remodeling of the district of Alameda de Cervantes and adjacent urban spaces.
In June 2016, the Governing Council of the Region of Murcia awarded for 3.2 million euros the drafting of the project and the execution of urban renewal works in this space.
The works, which will be financed from the EUR 185 million loan granted by the European Investment Bank (EIB) to the Government of Murcia for the recovery of the city after the earthquakes of May 2011, would have a deadline of execution of one year.
At that time, it was assured that the works of integral urban regeneration of the mall of Cervantes would begin in the month of January.
In April this year, the director general of Planning, Architecture and Housing, Nuria Fuentes, announced that the works would finally begin in June.
However, in the absence of a few days for the arrival of the month of August, they have not yet begun.
This situation causes concern among the neighbors of the area, mainly among the traders who are "totally uninformed".
In that sense, the mayor of IU-Verdes demanded "respect" for those who struggle every day to lift the blind of their business and generate wealth and employment for Lorca.
Martín considered the delay in the remodeling of this avenue to be "unjustifiable", which he attributed to an "interested planning" by the PP local government team.
The loan with the EIB was signed in 2012, five years ago, "long enough for those who govern in the municipality had planned the remodeling of the neighborhoods rationally, without having to resort to the request for a second extension, not yet confirmed , Which puts at risk the financing of the works, "said the councilor of IU-Greens.
It should be recalled that all actions under the EIB loan should have ended on 31 December 2016, however, many have not yet been implemented, including the second phase of the auditorium-palace of congresses in Santa Quiteria, two new Sections of the central ring road, the urban regeneration of the San Antonio neighborhood, the Avenida de Santa Clara and the Alameda de Cervantes itself.
IU-Verdes already warned in January of this year that there would not be enough time to undertake these works, which required, through its spokesman, Pedro Sosa, to make public "final investment forecasts, their cost, deadlines Of execution and dates of beginning and conclusion of each and every one of the works ".
However, "the opacity and interest of the PP to adjust the inauguration of the works to the electoral calendar are still the general trend in relation to the EIB loan."
For all this, Martin has demanded that the final date of the start of these works be made public, and that all those affected be kept informed.
In the same way, it has asked that its execution be carried out "by trying to minimize the damages that the works will generate to neighbors and merchants and that already have been a high cost from the commercial point of view in La Viña, San José, or Now on Avenida Juan Carlos I ".
