IU-V: "Today was a day to show the world a rebuilt and splendid Lorca instead of a minefield" (30/08/2017)

The councilor of this formation, Gloria Martín, denounced that the Lorca are "besieged" by innumerable badly planned works and that they do not fulfill the security plans.

"If we had the misfortune to suffer another natural disaster like avenues or new earthquakes, how the hell do they plan to evacuate potential victims?" He warned.

He also criticized that the traffic of the Caravaca highway is being diverted by the river when there is threat of cold drop

The councilor of United Left Greens, Gloria Martín, has denounced that the residents of Lorca are "besieged" by the innumerable works that maintain streets in practically all the districts of the city.

Works that, according to Martin, are being carried out "at the wrong time" because of the interest of the Popular Party to match future inaugurations with the electoral calendar;

Which are putting into play the funds received from the European Investment Bank for failure to comply with the deadlines for implementing them;

And that they are serving for several multinationals "to do the business of the century".

In this regard Martin recalled that the renewal of the supply networks of private gas, electricity, telephony or fiber optic companies is being financed "with everyone's money", when in reality it is their responsibility to assume the cost of building and maintaining their facilities.

In the case of Aguas de Lorca, the mayor assured that the public administration is assuming the cost of the renewal of the networks that should be paying the company instead of just collecting through "astronomical" receipts.

Martín lamented that the public money that the City Council and regional government are "giving" to these multinationals prevent a "more ambitious" urban regeneration that serves to make important aesthetic improvements and make Lorca a more modern, attractive and accessible city.

"Lorca will scarcely notice changes, beyond the widening of a few sidewalks because the funds for the recovery of the city are being buried in pipes that should be paying Iberdrola or the telephone companies," he lamented.

Gloria Martín harshly criticized that the works are being executed "without planning or rationality" and that the security plans are being violated.

"If we had the misfortune to suffer other natural disasters like avenues or new earthquakes, how the hell do they plan to evacuate potential victims?" He warned.

To all this, the mayor of IU-Verdes added the difficulties of access or exit of the urban center by the Caravaca road by the cut in Eulogio Periago street or the suppression of lanes in the Alameda de Cervantes, which prevents a fluid communication With the south round and the old highway of Eagles, "all at the same time".

In this regard, Martín described as "absolute recklessness" that the City has authorized the diversion of traffic from the Caravaca road through the Guadalentín River when there is a threat of cold gout.

"It's a real nonsense and an irresponsibility," he said.

In addition, the councilor of IU-Greens has wondered what sense it has to spend public money on the exit of the cycling round to Spain to promote the city in this state.

"Today was a day to show the world a reconstructed and splendid Lorca instead of a minefield that is what is converted more than six years after the earthquakes," he said.

As an example, Martín explained that yesterday had to be sealed some points of the city, for example in the old road of Murcia, to prevent the passage of the cyclists by waterlogged stretches, fruit of the historic disdain of the PP when it comes to repair The road of circulation, what he described as "lamentable image".

Transformer Street, without order or concert

Gloria Martín transferred the complaints of the residents of Transformer Street, in the neighborhood of Apolonia, also under construction, due to the lack of planning.

"They took up the whole street instead of the road, and with the rain they had to cover the trenches in a hurry and run to keep the wiring from getting wet," he said.

The mayor of IU-Verdes said that this is the general theme of the regeneration works that are carried out in the city: "They open streets, close, reopen, everything without order or concert and perpetuating the work already done They are making it very hard for Lorca. "
