The Community will tender new urban renewal works in Lorca for seven million. The investments are destined to the urban renewal of the neighborhood of Santa Clara and the avenue of Europe and adjacent streets (01/09/2017)

The Minister of Presidency and Promotion, Pedro Rivera, announced today the next tender for new urban renovation works in Lorca, for an amount close to seven million (6,981,400 euros).

Specifically, they focus on the urban renewal of the neighborhood of Santa Clara, with a bidding budget is 2,619,000 euros, and on that of the avenue of Europe and adjacent streets, which amounts to 4,362,400 euros.

In both cases, the deadline for execution of the works will be twelve months, and the deadline for the submission of bids of 40 calendar days from the date of publication of the notice in the Official Gazette of the Region (BORM).

The Minister stressed that "from the regional government we maintain and we believe with facts the commitment to the recovery of the city after the earthquakes of 2011, which will result in a total investment of 1.2 billion euros by the various administrations, which are borne by the Community ".

Pedro Rivera stressed that "we continue to take steps to the front in the construction of the new Lorca, and is a good occasion to remember that as a result of this impulse have raised homes, have rebuilt neighborhoods, roads have been renovated and improved educational and cultural infrastructures, among others ".

The neighborhoods of La Viña, Alfonso X, San José, San Diego and San Juan (in Barrios Altos) have already been rebuilt and completely renovated by means of works that have meant an investment of more than 20 million euros.

At the same time, there are performances already begun in Juan Carlos I Avenue, Alameda de Cervantes, Barrios Altos, Los Angeles and Apolonia and San Fernando.

To all this are added upcoming interventions such as the renovation of the Barrio Rey Cristo-La Salud, which means that between 2017 and 2018 will invest in these works 26.9 million euros, and the total investment in the complete transformation of 20 Lorca neighborhoods will amount to 82.5 million euros.

Works in Juan Carlos I

The advisor announced these upcoming tenders of his Department will publish during his visit to the works of Juan Carlos I Avenue and its adjacent streets, which involves an investment by the Community of more than five million euros, charged to the Bank loan European Investment Bank (EIB), and which is run by the City Council.

The goal is that the works are as advanced as possible for the Christmas campaign, and that in December are buried all the pipes and collectors projected and the sidewalks are taped with curb and the concrete floor in its entirety.

The remodeling of Juan Carlos I Avenue and its adjacent urban spaces make accessibility, sustainability, the promotion of more areas dedicated to pedestrians and green spaces and the provision of services to improve the quality of life of Lorca.

The sidewalks of Juan Carlos I Avenue will have a width of between 4 and 5 meters, and the 7-meter-wide pavement will be finished with sound-absorbing agglomerate, and will have two double-way lanes, with roundabouts at the intersections of Fajardo El Bravo and Santa Clara Avenue.

Of the adjacent streets, the area of ​​the Station (José Espinosa Pomares, Carruajes Square, Alameda de Menchirón and Journalist López Barnés), which accounts for 11% of the total of the works is practically finished.
