IU-V: "The PP fails its electoral program with the new itineraries of the urban bus of Lorca" (04/09/2017)

Gloria Martín, recalled that in 2015 the PP committed to establish regular bus lines "with all the districts of the municipality", specifically with the Highlands, the residential complex 'Torre del Obispo', Almendricos, La Escucha, La Campana and the districts of the South, and none of this has been fulfilled

IU also demands a change of stop at Rafael Méndez

The Councilor of Left United Greens in Lorca, Gloria Martín, has denied that the City has created eight new urban bus lines since those of Campillo, Marchena, Rio and Cazalla already existed, as can be seen on the website of the City Council , still not updated (https://www.lorca.es/direccionesytelefonos/direccionesytelefonos.asp?id=210).

Thus, only Tercia's is new in terms of public transportation in districts.

For Martin it is "ridiculous" that the itineraries that connect the town of Lorca with these councils are only made "two days a week".

But, in addition, the new routes of the urban bus of Lorca again clamorously discriminate against the residents of the Highlands, the southern districts and the coast, which will continue without this service despite the electoral promises of the PP .

They committed themselves to create "regular lines that unite the city with all the cardinal axes of the municipality of Lorca, including districts and residential nuclei, for which they blatantly breach their promises and discriminate against thousands of neighbors whose needs are systematically ignored by the team of municipal government, "said the mayor of IU-Greens.

The electoral program of the PP for 2015 stated verbatim that regular bus lines "with all the districts of the municipality" would be established and made a specific allusion to the Highlands, the residential complex 'Torre del Obispo', to Almendricos, La Escucha and La Campana (to meet the request of students who habitually go to the educational centers of the city), and to the southern districts, whose service would be reinforced "in summer season to encourage people to visit the beaches of Lorca," they said .

"None of this has been fulfilled," says Martín, as well as the strengthening of traditional markets of deputations, or the connection between the city and the polyhedrons of Saprelorca and La Hoya to encourage workers to use public transport and alleviate the traffic generated when using the private vehicle on the A7.

Nor have they implemented "smart stops", informing the expected times of arrival, so that citizens will continue "blind" when using this medium.

The Councilor of IU-Greens has demanded the PP to comply with its own electoral commitments in the field of public transport.

It has also asked that the vehicles that are incorporated into the fleet are ecological, that is to say, that they use alternative energies like hydrogen or compressed natural gas to reduce the emission of polluting gases, due, among other things, to that Lorca "holds the sad record of ozone pollution throughout Europe ".

Finally, Gloria Martín has criticized that the PP has opted for a new privatization of public transport and a model that is far from being "fair, equitable, comfortable, agile, cheap, effective and sustainable", and whose design " no voice has been given to the municipal opposition ".

In that sense, he lamented the "lack of courage" of the municipal government team of the PP that has preferred "to lose the direct management of an important public service by means of a concession that carries a risk of breach of agreed conditions and of deterioration and precariousness both of the own service and the working conditions of workers. "

IU demands a change of stop at Rafael Méndez

The mayor of IU-Verdes also requested that the stop of the Hospital Rafael Méndez be changed so that, without compromising the passage of ambulances, the buses arrive in the area of external consultations and the main door of the health center.

"This is a historic demand of hospital users, especially the elderly and people with reduced mobility, who currently have to overcome slopes and obstacles to reach Rafael Méndez."
