The City Council is launching a new program to benefit 294 unemployed young people, which will involve an investment of more than 1.8 million euros (15/09/2017)

Fulgencio Gil: "The most important thing is not the monthly scholarship, but also the training that is achieved both theoretically and practically and that will be the foundation in the curriculum on which will germinate the labor career of these young people who until this moment they have no training whatsoever.

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, together with the Councilor for Local Development in the Municipal Consistory, Sandra Martinez, has reported that the City Council, through this municipal area, will launch a new and ambitious project to benefit formally young unemployed Lorca.

The First Edil has stated that it is a program called "Youth Employment Lorca", which aims to strengthen the employability and professional skills of young people in our municipality who currently do not have employment.

We are talking about an initiative that will mean a direct investment for the improvement of the labor market in Lorca at 1,873,453 euros.

Specifically the European Social Fund provides through the subsidy 1,721,516 euros, while the municipal contribution reaches 151,937 euros.

Fulgencio Gil has detailed that this program is carried out under cover of the call for European Social Fund assistance provided for in the Youth Employment Operational Program, carried out by the Ministry of the Presidency and for the Territorial Administrations through the Directorate General of Relations with the Autonomous Communities and Local Authorities.

The First Edil has stated that the Project "Youth Employment Lorca" is an ambitious initiative with which we want 294 young Lorca to get a training that opens wide the doors of the labor market.

The most important thing is not the monthly scholarship, but also the training that is achieved both in theory and in practice and that will be the foundation in the curriculum on which will germinate the career of these young people who until now do not count with any training.

The Mayor has anticipated that thanks to this project will be carried out training activities, constituents of integrated labor insertion itineraries, with emphasis on favoring gender equality and non-discrimination of disadvantaged groups.

Participants will have to be unemployed and enrolled in the National System of Youth Guarantee.

They will receive a monthly scholarship for assistance of 200 euros.

A total of 294 young Lorca will be the direct beneficiaries of this initiative, which will have the opportunity to participate in 29 training actions of professional families, such as:

Trade and marketing.

Computer science and communications.

Sociocultural services and the community.

Hostel and Tourism.

Textile, clothing and leather.

Personal image.

Agrarian.

Building and civil works.

Arts and crafts.

Fulgencio Gil explained that each of the training actions consists of theoretical and practical training of the specialty, but also includes knowledge in multiple areas such as:

Prevention of occupational hazards.

Promoting non-discrimination and combating social exclusion.

Fostering equal opportunities between men and women.

New technologies.

Labor orientation and job search techniques and self-employment.

Social skills.

Language training.

Professional construction card or food handler

Students will also carry out work placements in companies to put into practice everything they have learned and acquire a fundamental experience in order to qualify for a job in the future.
