The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, and the Secretary of State for Finance, José Enrique Fernández de Moya, today closed in Madrid the terms in which the agreement between the State and the City of Lorca will materialize, under which the General Administration of the State (AGE) will make a grant of 3 million euros, charged to credits of the Ministry of Finance and Public Function, contained in the current General Budget Law of the State of 2017;

subsidy for the financing of certain projects in the city related to the recovery of infrastructures, equipment and facilities and services.

The meeting, which was held today at the headquarters of the Ministry of Finance and Public Function, has culminated a process that gives continuity to the collaboration that have been maintained by the two Administrations in the last years and since the earthquake of 11 of May 2011. Therefore, the agreement is part of the different actions that have been carried out since the approval of RDL 6/2011, of May 13, of urgent measures to mitigate the damages caused by this seismic movement.

The Mayor has highlighted as a prominent project among those who will be affected by the collaboration agreement the section 3 of the Central Evacuation Round and, in this sense, has valued "the involvement of the Government of Spain with Lorca" and that support to the city "be constant and committed".

In the same way, Fulgencio Gil stressed the "flexibility" shown by the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration, in order to be able to execute the different projects that will benefit from the grant, "considering that the current budget law was approved in June and , therefore, has only one semester for its execution ".

For his part, the Secretary of State for Finance has indicated "the extraordinary sensitivity of the Government of Spain with Lorca" in which he has defined as an "exceptional" situation as represented by the fact that the city "requires a special support "by the AGE to recover" sensitive "infrastructures after the seismic movement of May 2011.

"In situations of special need, the Government is demonstrating its commitment", commented Fernández de Moya, who added that "it is a great satisfaction to be able to contribute to the development of infrastructures that, in many cases, were damaged after the terrible event happened now something more than six years in Lorca. "

The Secretary of State for Finance will visit Lorca in the coming weeks in order to proceed with the signing of the agreement, together with the mayor, thus ratifying the commitment made between the two administrations.

Lastly, Fulgencio Gil announced that "we have moved the application so that the need to extend the bonus on the Real Property Tax (IBI) is taken into account in the next financial year, since the reconstruction process has not yet been concluded of the municipal housing park ".
