The round table "The capote de paseo: art in silk" will reaffirm the MASS as a center of bullfighting culture on October 11 (06/10/2017)

This activity is part of the exhibition project "Silk and gold, silver, oil or jet ... Capotes with history" that will be present in the MASS until November 5 with the aim of further disseminating the art of embroidery in the taurine dress

The President of the Brotherhood of de Labradores, Paso Azul, José María Miñarro, along with the President of the Paso Azul Foundation, María del Sagrado Corazón García, are pleased to announce the celebration of the round table entitled "El capote de paseo: art in silk ", which will take place on Wednesday, October 11 at 19:30.

in the Cloister of MASS, as part of the activities of the exhibition project "Silk and gold, silver, oil or jet ... Capotes with history" curated by the professor of the University of Murcia Ms. Veronica de Haro de San Mateo.

The event will feature the participation of Ms. Isabel Natividad García Frutos, a prestigious tailor of bullfighters worldwide known as "Maestra Nati";

D. Enrique Vera, tailor of bullfighters and son of the Master Nati;

D. Antonio López Fuentes, tailor of bullfighters with more than 50 years of experience;

and D. François Zumbiehl, professor of classical letters and doctor in anthropology who has published in Spain and France several books dedicated to the artistic intimacy of bullfighters.

"Silk and gold, silver, oil or jet ... Capotes with history" inaugurated with a great influx of public on Friday September 29 in the Blue Museum of Holy Week, will be in Lorca until November 5.

In the same one can be observed pieces of outstanding interpreters of the history of the bullfighting with the objective to contribute to the diffusion of the art of the embroidery in the taurine clothing, as well as the value of the tauromaquia as cultural manifestation.

Among the exhibited pieces can be found Joselito that was made in Lorca and which is commemorated its centenary in 2017, as well as those of Pedro Barrera and Pepín Jiménez, also made in the City of the Sun, the latter directed by the outside President and artistic director of Paso Azul, Joaquín Gimeno Mouliaá.

Also worthy of mention are Joselito's cloak of mourning, capes of historical bullfighters such as Manolete, Juan Belmonte, Curro Romero, Rafael de Paula or Antonio Bienvenida.

Also exhibited are capes belonging to current figures such as Pepín Liria, Francisco Rivera Ordonez, Cayetano, Jose Tomás, Morante de la Puebla, El Juli, the lorquino Paco Ureña or the late Víctor Barrio.

Works such as the "Libertad" cloak or the saya of Our Lady of Tears are also part of the exhibition that is divided between the temporary exhibition hall and the cloister of the historic building.

Once again, the Brotherhood of farmers, Paso Azul, becomes the highest reference of the local and regional culture through this new exhibition.
