IU-Greens demands a Stability Plan for temporary staff working at the City Hall (27/10/2017)

According to the councilors of this formation, Pedro Sosa and Gloria Martín, the Consistory has 63 unfilled vacancies, some pending since 2002, reason why they consider that the PP is fomenting the interim and the precarious contracting, instead of acting in a way exemplary and to ensure stable and quality employment

The councilors of Izquierda Unida-Verdes, Pedro Sosa and Gloria Martín, have demanded that the PP local government team "end job insecurity" affecting workers who perform functions for local administration, some of which are chaining precarious contracts for fifteen years. "

To that end, Sosa and Martín have called for the implementation of a "Stability Plan for Temporary Personnel", which is agreed with the unions, and that allows to consolidate employment in those places that are budgeted but are currently performing interim or temporal.

In this regard, Martín reported that, in the Catalog of jobs of the City of Lorca, 63 vacancies appear uncovered, some outstanding since 2002. Among them, more than twenty or so concierges, five electricians, a psychologist, or cleaners, notifiers, museum technicians, music or education.

According to Martín, the PP is fostering interim and precarious recruitment instead of acting in an exemplary manner and ensuring the "stable and quality" employment demanded by IU-Greens.

Martín explained that around 20% of the workforce of the City Council is temporary or temporary, which, together with unfilled vacancies, makes it necessary to "develop a timetable on the offer of public employment in the municipality" that respects the principles of equality, merit, capacity and publicity, so that any citizen who wishes, can participate in it.

As an example, Pedro Sosa made reference to the municipal cleaning company (LIMUSA) and insisted on the need for its General Meeting to be convened to "deprive the Manager of the competencies regarding temporary contracting."

IU-Verdes spokesman denounced that the selective processes of this company conclude with a "personal interview" whereby the Manager of LIMUSA, fingered by the PP, "decides at ease and wins who enters or not to work in the municipal company ".

Sosa also criticized the outsourcing of services being carried out by the local government of the PP and that could be managed with own resources if the City Council covered the vacancies of its catalog of jobs.

In this regard, the spokesman of IU-Greens noted the need to create a special commission that sets the technical and economic criteria that justify the outsourcing of all services provided by the Consistory.

"However, the bet of our formation is that of remunicipalisation," Sosa recalled.

In another vein, the IU-Verdes spokesman reported that some of the companies contracted by the City Council to carry out certain works "do not comply with the labor safety regulations, failing to provide their personnel with the mandatory Personal Protection Equipment."

That complaint is in addition to the one made this week by her colleague from Grupo Municipal, Gloria Martín, who demanded that the City Council guarantee the job security of the young people who participate in the workshop schools, putting at their disposal, immediately, the clothing protection.

For Sosa and Martín, the City Council can not constitute a "bad example" when it comes to guaranteeing health and safety at work "and asked if the external company that manages the service of protection of occupational risks, with a cost of 60,000 euros for the municipal coffers, has initiated some type of action in this regard.
