The Mayor, Fulgencio Gil, announces the signing of a new collaboration agreement with the Renal Sickness Association (02/11/2017)

The First Edil visits the La Viña Dialysis Unit to learn about the great work that medical professionals perform and the treatment patients receive.

It is about facilities that are improving thanks to an investment of 600,000 euros.

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, together with the General Director of Health Care, Roque Martínez, the President of ADAER, Dolores Guzmán, and the Councilor for Health, María del Carmen Ruiz, visited the facilities of the Dialysis Unit this morning, dependent on the Ministry of Health of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, located in the neighborhood of La Viña, in order to see firsthand the great work done by the medical professionals of this center, as well as the Association of Aid the Renal Sick (ADAER).

Fulgencio Gil explained that "within the commitment that keeps the City of Lorca with the associations of patients with different pathologies, we will subscribe in the coming months an agreement with ADAER so that this organization can carry out the various projects carried out with the so that every person diagnosed with a kidney disease can receive comprehensive care to cover the needs that this disease generates. "

The Mayor of Lorca has indicated that "the objective that is sought to achieve is to develop a project of Integral Attention in order to bring about changes and improvements in the life conditions of the renal patient and of his family life.

In this way, the program is developed in the Dialysis Room of the Rafael Méndez Hospital and in the Dialysis Unit located in La Viña, where nearly 90 patients from all over the Guadalentín Valley Region are attended in three daily sessions.

It should be noted that most of these people need dialysis 3 times a week, and the treatment lasts about 4 hours.

In total, the program is aimed at 200 patients and their corresponding families.

Because it is a very large number of beneficiaries, and because they are mostly elderly people, ADAER offers both nutritional and psycho-social care for patients and their families. "

Gil pointed out that "in addition, this Association also performs different actions with patients, such as individualized treatments or regular visits by the psychologist, social worker and nutritionist, both to the Rafael Méndez Hospital and the Dialysis Unit of La Viña, including the own address.

They care for patients who start dialysis treatment to provide them with information about the self-care they should take in relation to the treatment, including indications about the foods they should avoid and those that are convenient for them, as well as the most appropriate form of preparation .

They also offer the possibility of maintaining contact with other people who were in their situation to break down false beliefs and stereotypes. "

The First Edil added that "another of the projects of ADAER is to create a mutual aid group, since belonging to the group structure offers the patient the possibility of developing their skills, increasing their knowledge and getting to overcome problems in a much better and more complete way than it could on its own.

And, in the case of renal patients, it enables social support and sharing and expressing their feelings, which helps to cushion stress and provides a structure for maturation in the face of illness. "

Fulgencio Gil, finally, wanted to thank "the Autonomous Community and ADAER the involvement they show and the good work they do in the care of kidney patients throughout the Health Area III.

Thanks to the great medical professionals who work in the Dialysis Unit, as well as to the components of the Renal Illness Relief Association, patients suffering from Chronic Renal Insufficiency are well cared for and can have the best quality of life possible, since both they and their families are offered the necessary tools for adaptation and acceptance of the disease and treatment.
