The Mayor informs that the agreement with the CARM is being finalized to complete the equipment of the Fair and Congress Center of Santa Quiteria for 7 million euros (07/11/2017)

The aim of the City Council is to be able to sign the document shortly and be able to start the bidding process before concluding this same year.

Fulgencio Gil has stated that we are aware of the great interest that this infrastructure has raised both in our region and throughout the Region of Murcia and nearby provinces.

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, reported that the City Council and the CARM are working on the drafting of the agreement that will allocate 7 million euros of investment for the comprehensive equipment of the Center of Fairs and Congresses of Santa Quiteria, an advance that will allow complete the construction of this infrastructure and make it available to all Lorca in the second half of next year, if there are no relevant contingencies.

The First Edil has said that last September we obtained permission from Brussels so that these 7 million can be used in these facilities.

From that moment the technicians of both administrations began to work on the drafting of the agreement, whose text is being finalized.

We have given maximum speed and urgency to this issue so that the opening of the new Trade Fair and Congress Center is possible as soon as possible.

Fulgencio Gil has anticipated that the joint work of City Council and CARM, has had the direct involvement of the President of the Region, the Lorca Fernando Lopez Miras, which has driven this action in a special way.

This work has allowed to clear any doubt regarding the financing, granting us total and absolute tranquility.

I would also like to point out that the hiring of the equipment entails a simpler and quicker process than the one usually required by the works, a factor that also plays in our favor.

Our goal is to start the equipment as soon as possible so that the Fair and Congress Center, which has raised much expectation and attraction both in our region and in the Region of Murcia and nearby provinces, can celebrate, among others, the next editions of Feramur, Fericab and Sepor.

The Mayor thanked the interest shown in this regard by the party C's, and stressed that now we are closer than ever to have the Fair Center that we Lorca deserve.

It is an emblematic work for the city that had been demanded by the different social groups.

In addition, providing Lorca with this service infrastructure means that the city emphasizes its status as a subregional capital and strengthens its profile as a city of fairs and congresses.

Gil stressed that "from the City of Lorca we will continue to claim the projects that Lorca deserve. This is the time of Lorca and therefore we will continue to promote new actions that benefit our municipality and contribute to highlight our regional capital. that continue supporting the implantation in our municipal term of this type of initiatives, that are generalizing like more concrete and outstanding examples of innovation and development inside the main economic and labor motor ".

It is recalled that the City is already investing 11 million euros to make a work profoundly beneficial to all Lorca.

In fact so far has completed the first phase, which involved an investment of 7 million euros, financed with European funds and part of the amount obtained by the City thanks to the extraordinary draw of national lottery held for the benefit of Lorca.

In the last months the works included in the urbanization phase (€ 4 million) are being executed, which are divided into two sections: the construction of the sample hall and the urbanization of the site, as well as the urbanization of the adjacent streets ( Oven, Santa Quiteria and Painter Salvador Zamora) and the installation of a new collector for the Alameda Virgen de las Huertas).

Once all the phases of construction to complete this new equipment have been completed, the exhibiting capacity of the Fair Center will have been increased, which will go from the 5,010 m2 that the former had to 8,600 m2 (including an area that could be subdivided to hold meetings or install fairs and another specific for livestock exhibition).
