The councilor of the United Left, Gloria Martin, today demanded "maximum speed" in the bidding and execution of the works of improvement of infrastructures and public services in the districts of the municipality, included in a grant of three million euros charged to the General Budgets for 2017.

Martin has expressed concern that the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration and the City Council, signed just a week ago, condition the subsidy to "expenses incurred in 2017".

In this regard, the mayor of IU-Verdes recalled that 155 actions are planned, some of major importance, such as the remodeling of the roads of the Mill of the Sierra (Tercia), Piña (Cazalla), Selval (Marchena) or the paving access to the urban core of the hamlet of Torrealvilla, of which most are still without tender.

Gloria Martín regretted that the Ministry had waited "until the last moment" for the signing of the agreement, when the General Budgets for 2017 came into force on June 29.

In this regard, he recalled that the City of Lorca is "specialist" in "breaking the deadlines" legally established for the implementation of works subsidized by other administrations and "lose public aid", such as the Regional Plan of Rural Roads 2014- 2020, in which Lorca "was left out of the call for these regional funds" because the Local Government team of the PP "did not do their homework".
