Adoración Peñas, councilor of IU-Verdes de Lorca, has stated that the theft produced in the House of NGOs, S last weekend could have been avoided if the town hall paid more attention to this municipal space that has practically forgotten.

According to the mayor, said theft, which in addition to the theft of computers and materials, have been various acts of vandalism, as destruction of doors, machinery and different materials, could have been avoided if the City Council paid more attention to this municipal space .

Peñas warns that the center does not have any security measure, there are even surveillance cameras that are not even enabled and points out that this is another example of the systematic abandonment that this center suffers from the government team.

Since IU-Greens remember that the House of NGOs, s was born as a common space that houses almost twenty associations, mostly linked to health and social activities, exercising functions of care, prevention and social promotion with different groups.

Despite this, there are many historical claims that these organizations have been demanding from political leaders, mainly a greater endowment of technical and economic resources, and the expansion of physical space for those associations that have a higher volume of attention and space assigned they are left small, having to juggle to meet people in the right conditions.

In this sense, Peñas requires the councilor of social welfare, as well as the mayor himself to strengthen the security conditions of this center so as not to have to complain about more robberies in which the associations lose out, together with the humble economies that they usually present.

The councilor said that at the same time the city council should pay the consideration and attention that the House of NGOs, S and all the bodies that compose it, take it out of the ostracism and oblivion in which it is anchored and set apart.

Also, the mayor emphasizes the urgent need to address effectively all the claims of these organizations that are making an indisputable social work for our municipality with a more than close collaboration with social services and with society itself.
