City Council, Union of Merchants and National Police set in motion the Safe Trade Plan, with more police presence in commercial areas during the Christmas season (12/12/2017)

The Alertcops App is available to merchants, which allows direct contact between the establishments and the National Police Force.

The Councilors of Commerce and Public Safety in the City Council of Lorca, María del Carmen Ruiz and María Belén Pérez, together with the President of the Union of Merchants of our city, Antonio Martínez, and the Chief of the Citizen Security Brigade of the National Police , Juan José Rodríguez, participated this morning in the presentation of the Safe Trade Plan, launched by the Citizen Participation Unit of the National Police Force, due to the special influx of citizens to the different establishments in the city. the realization of the usual Christmas shopping.

The Edil de Comercio has stated that this work is decisive so that people can carry out their purchases in a calm and safe, contributing to make buying in Lorca is increasingly attractive, thanks to the high quality and diversity offered by our establishments , and that have managed to increase the role of Lorca as subregional capital and indisputable commercial reference of the regions of Guadalentín and bordering.

Ruiz Jódar explained that the Citizen Security Unit of the National Police and the Merchants' Union are handing out to Lorca merchants during these days a series of informative brochures to be participants in the measures included in this plan, among which It is worth mentioning the increase in the number of agents in the different commercial areas of the city, which will patrol both uniformed and civilian.

The Citizen Security Edil has pointed out that one of the novelties presented this year by the Secure Trade Plan is the incorporation of a computer application called Alertcops.

It is a resource available to all interested establishments that has an interactive online chat, which can be used by merchants and any citizen to communicate to the police cases of theft, suspicions about the performance of certain subjects, as well as other incidents related to stress situations.

This application will also allow the transfer of complaints by the Merchants' Union to the Police to be coordinated.

The aim of this App is to universalize access to public services of citizen security, so that anyone, regardless of their language, origin or their hearing or vocal disabilities can communicate to the State Security Forces (Police and Civil Guard) an alert about a criminal act or security incident of which he is being victim or witness.

Once the registration process is completed and the access validated, with a code that will be sent by SMS to the mobile phone number, the application displays a main screen with the following options, which can be selected by pressing the corresponding icon.

This service allows that, from a mobile phone, any citizen can send an alert directly to the police bodies, in a simple and intuitive way, in order to be attended quickly and efficiently.

AlertCops facilitates a new channel of communication between citizens and the FFCCSE, complementary to existing ones, while offering foreigners who visit or reside in our country a channel in their language to access emergency security services.

We are talking about improving the response times to the citizen and the information process, as well as streamlining the information and response demand protocol, obtaining from the start information about the help applicant, such as: positioning, type of incident that is suffering or other relevant data

In this way the accessibility to these services of people with communication disabilities is guaranteed.

María del Carmen Ruiz has stated that this information is being delivered by hand, commerce to commerce, and has already been transferred to the commercial areas of Avenida Juan Carlos I, Lorca Centro and El Barrio Europa, including visits to more than 30 establishments.

This work will continue to develop over the coming weeks with the aim of reaching as many traders as possible.

The Safe Trade Plan informs owners of establishments how to act in situations such as petty theft, scams, daily collection and detection of repeat offenses, among other issues.

The Councilor for Commerce has recalled the main tips to follow before the commission of criminal acts in commercial establishments:

• Call 091 and wait for your arrival.

• If the event occurred while the establishment was closed, do not enter the premises.

• Never manipulate objects that may have touched the perpetrator of the crime.

• If the event occurs in your presence, provide the largest number of data to the Police.

• If there are witnesses, ask for the information so that the police can contact them.

• If the crime is telematic, do not manipulate the server or electronic device

• Establish a code of communication of keywords among workers to communicate any incident.

Pérez Martínez has indicated that for the formalization of complaints is always available 902102112, or can be registered in person at the police station of the National Police, even on the Internet through the Virtual Office of Complaints.
