The Councilor for Sports of the City of Lorca, Juan Miguel Bayonas, has visited the improvement works that have been made during the last weeks in the Athletics Track "Úrsula Ruiz Pérez" for the enjoyment of all users of these facilities.
Juan Miguel Bayonas has detailed that "the actions have consisted in the reconditioning of the facilities with the construction of new toilets in the Athletics Track, which triple their capacity, and are also adapted for people with physical disabilities. distribution that has allowed the construction of three new warehouses that will allow to store the material of the different clubs that use this athletic track on a daily basis ".
The Sports Councilor stressed that "this facility has a new service kit that will be operational during the days that competitions are held, the control tower has been painted, the cracks have been covered and the defects corrected. total investment of the works has been more than 32,000 euros of which a part comes from the Autonomous Community ".
Bayonas recalled that "in recent months these facilities have hosted tests such as" Juvenile Control and Junior and Long Javelin Launches ", organized by the Athletics Federation of the Region of Murcia held on December 9.
On June 17 and 18 last year the Championship of the Spanish Athletics Cadet School was held in these facilities in which 760 young people took part, among the tests that were played were hammer, pole, length, triple, height, weight, disc , 100, 300, 600, 1,000 and 3,000 meters, 4x100 and 4x300 meters, 100 and 300 meters hurdles, 1,500 meters obstacles, 3,000 and 5,000 meters, among others.
It should be recalled that last December 3, the mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, and Lorca weight thrower Úrsula Ruiz reopened this sports complex complex of La Torrecilla that since that day bears the name of "Athletics Track Úrsula Ruiz" , as a tribute to this famous sportswoman from Lorca.
