Antonio Meca requests a technical report to measure the electromagnetic fields of the high-voltage lines that cross the Aldi supermarket (01/02/2018)

In September 2016, a supermarket belonging to the ALDI chain was inaugurated in Lorca on Camino Viejo del Puerto n ° 150, on a site where there was a high voltage power line (described in the City Council specifications as "medium voltage" ), an aerial power line turret being located on the same site without the enclosure fence and the anti-scale panels provided by the Ministry of Industry, as security measures.

Antonio Meca indicates that the specifications itself "recognizes the existence of these power lines and warns that it is a condition in terms of the location of the building on the plot."

"We also know that radiation measurements were not made in the vicinity of this supermarket at the time", a fact verified in the plenary session of November 2016 by the Government team, in response to a question from this Municipal Group about it.

Both the Directive 2013/35 / EU of the European Parliament and of the Council, of the 26th of July, on minimum health and safety provisions related to the exposure of workers to risks derived from electromagnetic fields, such as Royal Decree 337 / 2014, of May 9, which approves the Regulation on technical conditions and safety guarantees in high voltage electrical installations of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, contemplates measurements of radiation indices by evaluating exposure levels for avoid possible health risks or take measures to minimize their effects if the established limits are exceeded.

The European Directive clearly establishes the obligations of employers in Article 4 "the employer shall evaluate and, if necessary, measure and calculate the levels of electromagnetic fields to which workers are exposed".

According to the Councilman "this obligation was not demanded by the government team and would have been overlooked when granting the installation and opening licenses of this supermarket".

For this purpose Meca has submitted a letter to the Mayor requesting "a report of the electromagnetic field measurements generated by this high-voltage line so close to customers and workers of this supermarket, and the immediate withdrawal of the overhead power line that cross the facilities of the supermarket ".
