The Department of Tourism joins its tourist offer the visit "Lorca Jewish, Christian and Caliphate" (01/02/2018)

The new visit that is launched from Lorca Taller del Tiempo offers a tour of three magnificent architectural elements: the Caliphal Palace, the Collegiate Church of San Patricio and the Synagogue.

Two options are offered, the first will be the first Saturdays of each month and can be done at the pace the visitor is marked;

and the second will be held on the second Saturdays of each month and includes transport by tourist train and a specialized guide

The Councilor for Tourism of the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, presented this morning the visit "Lorca Jewish, Christian and Califal", a new tourist proposal to know the influence of the culture of these three medieval religions in the city through a tour through three magnificent architectural elements.

Francisco Montiel explained that "one of our great tourist attractions is our set of historical heritage.The City of the Sun has a great historical and patrimonial legacy that we want to show the visitor through a complete offer that takes by name" Lorca, Jewish, Christian and Caliphate "and that unites the three cultures that inhabited the city during the medieval period.The new visit that we put into action offers a tour of three magnificent architectural elements: the Caliphal Palace, the Collegiate Church of St. Patrick and the Synagogue. Through this route, the visitor will be able to know these monuments, and with them the melting pot of cultures that have forged this city ".

The Councilor for Tourism, in this regard, stressed that "from Lorca Taller del Tiempo we offer two options, the first will be the first Saturdays of each month and can be done at the pace and with the order that our visitor is marked, beginning with the Caliphal Palace located under the current Franciscan convent and Church of Santa Maria la Real de las Huertas and, with the priority that the visitor is marked, the Collegiate Church of San Patricio and the Synagogue, being able to walk for a while and even eat in the imposing castle that crown the city. "

Montiel added that "the second possibility introduces a more playful element, including transportation in the tourist train between each of the monuments to visit, starting with the Collegiate Church of San Patricio, for after and after a tour in the tourist train, to know The Califal Palace The last stop is the Castle, again in the tourist train, ending with the visit to the Synagogue that takes place in the early afternoon, this route will take place on the second Saturdays of each month and will count in all the buildings with the explanations of a specialized guide. The program of the visit to be held on the first Saturday of each month is as follows:

10:30 am: Guided tour of the Califal Palace under the current Convent of the Virgen de las Huertas (approximate duration of 1 hour and 15 minutes).

From 11 am to 1 pm or from 5 pm to 6 pm: Free visit to the Collegiate Church of San Patricio (approximate duration of 30 minutes).

From 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.: Free visit to the Castle of Lorca, being the last entrance at 4:30 p.m. (approximate duration of 1 hour and 15 minutes).

1:30 pm or 4:30 pm: Guided tour of the Castle of Lorca Synagogue (approximate duration of 40 minutes).

The displacements between monuments are paid by the tourist and the price of the visit is 10 euros, with free admission for children under 12 years of age and a special price for "Amig @ de Lorca".

The program of the visit that will take place on the second Saturday of each month is the following:

10:30 am: Guided tour of the Collegiate Church of San Patricio (approximate duration of 1 hour and 15 minutes).

12 hours: Touristic train ride from the Visitor Center to the Califal Palace (approximate duration of 30 minutes).

12:30 hours: Guided tour of the Califal Palace under the current Convent of the Virgen de las Huertas (approximate duration of 1 hour and 15 minutes).

14 hours: Touristic train ride from the Califal Palace to the Visitor Center (approximate duration of 30 minutes).

There is the possibility of staying for lunch in the center of the city or going up to the Castle and enjoy an exquisite menu at Las Caballerizas del Castillo de Lorca (approximately 45 minutes).

From 14:45 to 17:30 hours: Lunch (not included if you choose the option to eat in the city there is the option of taking an urban bus to Fortaleza del Sol) and free visit to the Castle, being the last entrance to the 4:30 pm (approximate duration of 1 hour and 15 minutes).

4:30 pm: Guided tour of the Castle Synagogue (approximate duration of 40 minutes).

6:45 pm: Down the Castle by urban bus.

The price of it is 14 euros, with free admission for children under 12 years old and a special price for "Amig @ de Lorca".

The transport to visit the different monuments is included in the price.
