In this regard, he recalled that the City Council promoted, with the votes of PP and Citizens, the expropriation of 78 neighbors, dissatisfied with the chosen model of reconstruction, precisely with the intention that the reconstruction process of this neighborhood would not be halted, something which is now causing the Autonomous Community.

"Instead of seeking consensus and understanding among the neighbors, they got rid of the owners who opposed Ferrovial's offer, which was much more expensive for those affected, through expropriation," said Martín, who added that "they did it with the false excuse that this would speed up the reconstruction process when the reality is that the 232 affected families have been out of their homes for almost seven years due to the problems that the Autonomous Community itself is facing."

Martín also recalled that the Autonomous Community tendered the contract for urban renewal of the Barrio de San Fernando in November last year, which implies at least another twelve months of works in water, electricity or telecommunications networks, which will prevent neighbors go back to their homes.
