The Mayors of Lorca and Huércal-Overa meet to strengthen ties between both populations and promote synergies that benefit both municipalities (12/02/2018)

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, received last week at City Hall a delegation from the neighboring Huércal-Overa headed by its Mayor, Domingo Fernández Zurano, to try common projects and strengthen ties between both populations.

The councilors of both government teams participated in the meeting, held in the Noble Mayoralty of Lorca

Gil Jódar wanted to remind us that "Lorca and Huércal-Overa have a common history, since for almost 200 years, until 1668, the Almeria town was part of the Lorca border, we are frontier lands, tanned during the Middle Ages, which we have inherited our rebellious and fighting spirit, although the provincial and autonomous borders separate us, the truth is we are municipalities, as well as bordering, brothers, with much in common ".

Domingo Fernández, meanwhile, stressed that "although this year marks the 350th anniversary of the Villazgo de Huércal-Overa Exemption for which it was no longer part of Lorca's term, our roots, customs and traditions remain the same. In this significant event, we wanted to further strengthen this relationship and work so that both populations benefit. "

Both Mayors agreed that "we have to work together on those objectives that are incumbent on both municipalities, generating synergies that benefit us both, we form a strategic area at a national level for sectors such as primary, among others, our relationship has to be close and close to grow together, hence the importance of this meeting between the members of the different municipal government teams.
