Adoración Peñas, Councilor of the United Green Left in the city of Lorca, announced this morning one of the initiatives to be presented to the next plenary session corresponding to the month of February, consisting of a plea that would encourage reading in our municipality.
On the occasion of the closeness of Book Day on April 23, IU-Verdes wants to propose a cultural initiative that has been taking place for several years, with great success of citizen participation in cities such as Zaragoza, Madrid, Vigo or Barcelona and that recently It has been approved in some municipalities of our Region, as in Sewer only a few weeks ago.
"My literary invisible friend" is the name of this proposal that consists of the exchange of books between individuals, books that, in some way, have been important for them at some point in their lives.
To this end, Adoración Peñas has proposed that throughout the 23rd of April a booth be installed in a central point of the city, such as, for example, the Plaza Calderón, to which any person may approach to exchange a book with the only condition of exchanging a copy wrapped in wrapping paper and with an interior dedication in which the reason of importance for its owner is explained.
Prior to this day a few copies will have been collected in identical conditions, to begin this exchange.
Peñas believes that it is a plan to promote reading for all age groups, as well as an opportunity to promote Lorca writers dedicating a space of the booth to the signing of their copies (some of them for sale in centers commercial of the city), dedicating in this way the fair to the writers and writers of our town.
