The Security Plan for Holy Week mobilizes all Local Police agents (12/03/2018)

The operation affects the monitoring of other points of the municipality during these days, to ensure that incidents are not recorded taking advantage of the absence of the residents of the districts when they move to participate or contemplate the processions.

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, along with the Government Delegate in the Region of Murcia, Francisco Bernabé, chaired this morning the meeting of the Local Safety Board, which has as a priority the coordination of all safety and auxiliary services that are precise to be able to guarantee the correct development of all the events that take place in our city on the occasion of Holy Week.

This session of sharing has had representatives of Civil Guard, National Police and Local Police,

The First Edil thanked on behalf of all Lorca for the work and collaboration of the bodies and security forces of the State and our Local Police to ensure security during these dates.

We know what moves the Holy Week of Lorca, which brings together more than 300,000 people during its celebration.

In response to this figure, it is absolutely necessary to start operations that guarantee security in all aspects.

Fulgencio Gil has stressed that the only important thing during these dates has to be to enjoy our unique celebration and to do so with the absolute certainty that if any unforeseen event or complication happens, the best professionals will be prepared to attend to it.

I encourage all Lorca and all visitors.

The Mayor has pointed out that essential operations such as the guarantee of safety in the race and its surroundings during the parades converge in these operations, as well as the services related to the assembly and dismantling of grandstands, the articulation of traffic, emergency and sanitary services and a long list of planned aspects to be able to attend them if necessary.

Assistance to the Steps is also included, in terms of offering collaborations in transfers, tests and travel, among other issues.

Fulgencio Gil has indicated that this operation also affects the monitoring of other points of the municipality during these days, to ensure that incidents are not recorded taking advantage of the absence of the residents of the districts when they move to participate or contemplate the processions.

As for the Special Operation launched by the Local Police, the entire staff, 132 troops, will be activated between Thursday, March 22 and Sunday, April 1.

The device consists of two phases: a first logistics and support and a second operation.

Phase 1 is underway since last Friday, February 16 and with it the agents collaborate in the needs of the brotherhoods such as the Via Crucis of the Passo Morado and Incarnate, as well as the different trials of the thrones of the brotherhoods.

The level of intensity of the 1st phase will increase on Thursday the 15th with the assembly of the tribunes of the processional race, including the delivery of cards for the 1,000 authorized users and neighbors for access to the garages.

Local Police will regulate the traffic during assembly to ensure traffic safety.

After the proclamation will end the first part of phase 1, which will be activated again after the procession of Good Friday with the works of removal of stands and cleaning until the end of the operation on the night of Easter Sunday.

Phase 2 will be activated at 00.00 hours on Thursday, March 22, the day before Friday of Dolores, on the occasion of the preparations for the Serenata del Paso Azul, as well as the sanding of streets and last rehearsals of thrones, being active until Friday Holy.

It covers Saturday of Glory, Monday, Tuesday and Holy Wednesday, as well as Holy Saturday and Resurrection Sunday, including the logistical preparation and the needs of the brotherhoods themselves.

During Phase 2 the operation will be activated throughout its development on the occasion of the processions of Friday of Dolores, Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday and Good Friday.

To meet this end, the plan contemplates the existence of three areas or areas of influence of high police interest:

Exterior Perimeter.

Preventive work is carried out through external surveillance of the sphere of influence of the processions to avoid robberies taking advantage of the absence of residents.

It includes the deployment of the UAP in foreign districts and UPROL in the valley area, as well as the deployment of the UPPSC in the peripheral neighborhoods.

Security Perimeter

Pedestrian demarcation, detours and closures of traffic and information to the citizen in all the perimeter zones, establishing controls.

Interior Perimeter.

Includes static control points, pedestrian and motorized surveillance patrols in Juan Carlos I and adjacent, continuous deployment of agents and less than 50 meters away from each other, etc, in order to get assistance, order and citizen information as well as the protection of people and goods.

The operative incorporates mobile static elements with preventive character to avoid the risk of attack with vehicles.

The zones delimited in the perimeter are the Avenue, all the secondary and adjacent race, Alameda of the Constitution, Ramon and Cajal, Eugenio Úbeda, Fajardo the Brave, Sliding or Slope of San Francisco.

The total deployment of special services during the Holy Week operation will be 386, in addition to the ordinary jobs that, of course, are maintained.

The previous work is done and we can guarantee the safety of all Lorca and all visitors who will accompany us during these days.

The Mayor has anticipated that in the next few days the members of the Emergency Plan will gather to celebrate the Holy Week events, proceeding to report on its content.
